Aazim's achievements.
editthe changes made are not minor. They involve expanding and refining the content, restructuring sentences, and providing additional details about Aazim's achievements. Simwinga (talk) 16:23, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
Establishing notability
editThese sources establish that this person passes Wikipedia's WP:Notability guideline
obituaries
- Kashmiri, Ahmed (3 August 2022). "Muzaffar Aazim: Loss of an intellectual". Greater Kashmir.
- NETWORK, GK NEWS (2022-07-08). "Former Director Sericulture passes away". Greater Kashmir. Retrieved 2023-12-30.
- KV (2022-07-09). "Noted Kashmiri poet Muzaffar Aazim passes away in US". Kashmir Vision. Retrieved 2023-12-30.
The obituaries mention accomplishments and awards and contribute to notability, but because families and friends frequently write the obituaries, Wikipedia requires further verification.
Establishment of unicode standard for Kashmiri language in digital form
- Anderson, Deborah; Pournader, Roozbeh; Aazim, Muzaffar; Mansour, Kamal (14 May 2009). "Proposal to add two Kashmiri characters".
This is self published but also deposited in the Script Encoding Initiative of Berkeley University's Linguistics department. This source supports the obituary claims that this person contributed significantly to the establishment of digital Kashmiri text.
award from Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages
I am short on details because of the language barrier but this seems to be an award ceremony.
Simple recognition during his lifetime from a newspaper
- "Poet Aazim for promotion of Kashmiri language". Tribune India. 17 May 2016. Retrieved 21 April 2024.
Finally, there are plausible claims of other awards in the obituaries which I could not fact check, such as with the Soviet Land Nehru Award.
I think this article is good enough to publish and develop further. As with any Wikipedia article, claims without citations can be removed, and citations failing fact checking can be removed.
I developed this article because I am generally interested in India, and because I met a relative of this person in my city. Bluerasberry (talk) 22:21, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- @SafariScribe: You reviewed this a few days ago. I make a clearer case for notability here, but pre-Internet biographies for public figures using non-English languages often have less clear fact-checking than contemporary figures. I can still understand you approving or passing on this; could I ask for your review again? Thanks. Bluerasberry (talk) 22:29, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
