Mystery in Anime
editShould there possibly be a section here on Anime in the Myster genre? Of is there a section simlar to that on another page on wikipedia? Anime such as Case Closed (Jimmy Kudo- detective) , Detective Academy Q, You're Under Arrest, Patlabor , Kindaichi Case Files , Dr. Thrill and I'm sure many more could be mentioned. They might even diserve their own artcile... Thoughts? - Prede (talk) 21:14, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- Still no answer?? How can this be completely ignored for 8 yearsPrede (talk) 15:36, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hey let's follow-up in 2023. I think Asia has a bit more of a mystery cycle than the rest of the world, but finding English language sources that track the genre specifically for non-English media is always a bit more difficult. I've tried to find some for Japanese horror but it's all a bit hodge-podge with no real serious look at it. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:09, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Lists
editThe lists of films in this article are out of control. They need to be trimmed down to 5-10 important films from each decade, or the whole thing should be spun off into another article List of Mystery films. As far as this article is concerned, we are better off with films being discussed in the text, and a few other films in the list. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 16:32, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- I've just flat out removed the list now. This isn't a list of every mystery ever which doesn't really help anyone, it's to generally help people figure out what is or what isn't the genre. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:10, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Television
editWhy are references to television series included in the Mystery Film entry? Remington Steele was not a film series. MarkinBoston (talk) 00:23, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- I wrote most of this article, and all the references to books and television (series and telefilms) are legitimate and helpful examples that illustrate the influence and cross-pollination of cultural trends and ideas that have occurred between films and other media within the mystery genre. Ghost2011 (talk) 15:14, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've since removed the television bits as generally everything in the article has been unsourced previously. There isn't a lot of serious academic or scholarly research in mystery films (tons for literature though), so it's all kind of needing to start from scratch. WorldCat Genres
editHello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of mystery-films. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks.
