Salary cap
edit- "This rule is in addition to the obvious fact that teams cannot exceed the salary cap through trades, either."
- This line is bogus I think. Plenty of teams have exceeded the salary cap further through trades. 24.151.131.65 07:58, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
jk?
I revamped the line, more because of its tone than its content, though. Teams previously below the cap can't go over because of trades, and teams already over have to almost-match incoming with outgoing salaries, which slows the rate at which their payroll can rise above the cap.

(From Larry Coon) I did some fixing of the trade rules and BYC, which were incorrect. I also did some clean-up of the bi-annual exception, since it didn't make sense to title it after what it used to be called. This entire article needs a lot more work, and I'll see if I can get to it when I get some free time. I'd encourage anybody who wants to edit this page to at least send me an e-mail to check facts. My address can be found in the NBA Salary Cap FAQ, which is linked to by this article. 128.200.190.55 18:20, 25 April 2007 (UTC) Larry Coon
The wording is not so clear on the Mid-Level Exemption. Is it one player per season? Or can they sign one player to the $5-6 million MLE and then sign another one the next day?
There is a conflict between the opening paragraphs and a chart later in the article. It says the cap for 09-10 is 57.7 million and then the chart for 09-10 says it is 60.7 the correct amount is 57.7 million. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.228.74.69 (talk) 02:09, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Similar to the above, must be a typo at the top where it says the 07-08 cap is US$92.63 million, clearly in conflict with the chart near the bottom.MKale (talk) 21:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Max Salary
editRules not clear. Is it the greater or lesser of those two numbers? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.85.252 (talk) 04:20, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Update after 2011 lockout needed
editUpdated information is needed based on new agreement from 2011 NBA lockout.—Bagumba (talk) 10:23, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
The link which states the repeat luxury tax has to be paid on teams who are over the threshold for 4 out of 5 seasons is wrong. It is paid on 3 out of 4 seasons. It's pretty common knowledge, but some links:
http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2013/06/nbas_luxury_tax_projections_co.html http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1457745-how-nbas-luxury-tax-penalties-will-impact-elite-teams
None of those are really authoritative (but about.com is definitely wrong!) I changed the text without changing the source for now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bullblade (talk • contribs) 00:22, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Article name
editShould this article be the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, as the salary cap is part of the CBA and not visa versa?
- I split the CBA text to NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was previously a redirect to NBA salary cap.—Bagumba (talk) 23:53, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Larry Bird Exception
editThere are multiple articles throughout the internet that claim that the Larry Bird Exception was never used on Larry Bird. This wiki contradicts the other sources. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.192.72.128 (talk) 11:48, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
Needs updating to 2016
editThis article needs serious updating, which I am not qualified to do. It could also discuss what Tier 3, etc are. Bellagio99 (talk) 22:16, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

majority of leagues?
editThis "The majority of leagues (NFL, NHL, MLS)" is not only US-centric but ignores existence of hundreds of different sport leagues in North America, or thousands across the globe.
