African-American

edit

Is this the correct designation, given the Wikipedia article, which says that the term is not used as a self-identifier by some people whose parents or who themselves came from Africa as immigrants rather than as slaves? Has Ms. Abudu voiced an opinion? Kdammers (talk) 22:21, 24 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Controversial statements

edit

I've reworded the bit about her 2020 article in which she compared "felon disenfranchisement to slavery." Most importantly, it's important to note she didn't equate the two – she compared disenfranchisement under slavery to the disenfranchisement of convicted felons today. Still provocative, but far from "equating." Secondly, only conservative news outlets have reported on this (the least unreliable ones I can find are Fox News and the Washington Examiner, which both come with warnings at our perennial sources list). Because of that, I think it's worth attributing the reports. Tserton (talk) 20:42, 28 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
