Narasimha avatar
editThe Bhagavata Purana quoted in the introduction gives Narasimha as the 14th avatar. Within the Dasavatara-stotra of Jayadeva Goswami (which lists the major incarnations of Vishnu) Narasimha is listed as the 4th incarnation. I'm sure in other Puranas the list may be slightly different again. Thus in order for the introduction to be correct, it is better to simply say an avatar of Vishnu, without getting too caught up in the numbers. According to other verses in the Bhagavata-Purana there are as many avatars as there are waves in the ocean,[1] which of course, cannot be counted (at least not by humans). defame of indian gods=There is basically nothing wrong with narasimha. If you do not disrespect the god like how the demons did he will not get angry.narasimha was not a monster. The correct meaning of a monster is something that is evil or was evil. by Adwaitha Menon 111.92.124.201 (talk) 15:18, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
