Outlandish Marcinko Claims

edit

There really should be substantiated somewhere as quite a bit of his autobiography has been ripped apart as pure nonsense. Batman2005 01:03, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Size?

edit

Article should mention its personnel count. Tempshill 03:20, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Which director?

edit

I removed this part: "The director cameoed on one episode as a retiring agent." Which director, the one form the agency or the one from the show? Please re-insert and clarify if you know (though you might reconsider if it's the show's), and please add the name.

David Brandt did so in season 3's The Frame Up. Another real-life director cameoed in Season 5's Identity Crisis — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.178.183.95 (talk) 21:19, 18 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Controversy and Neutrality

edit

The section regarding controversies surrounding NCIS and the "gay witch hunts" makes a claim regarding the vigilance of the department towards said witch hunts versus their vigilance towards their stated job that is uncited and sounds more pissed-off than intelligently expressed. I'm not taking any side (for all I know, there could be evidence proving NCIS likes to spend more time rooting out gays), but I think NCIS deserves more level-headed scrutiny than mere hissy fits. My reaction towards an article should be "Huh, that's interesting, I didn't know that", rather than "Really? I think I'm gonna check out how true that is." Sure, it's Wikipedia, but don't say we aren't trying. Saxprodigy 03:21, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed the section. It can be re-added when/if there are references. --Purpleslog 22:20, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Along these lines, not sure how "Conduct Unbecoming: Gays and Lesbians in the U.S. Military" is directly relevant as a reference to "NCIS in the Media"... certainly would be appropriate under an article discussing "Don't ask don't tell"... as such I pulled it. Macboots 23:45, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Roy Nedrow was not the first civilian director of NIS - NIS had a previous civilian director prior to the institution of Admirals leading the agency. Check sources -

NCIS did not stop doing DIS cases overseas - there was quite a back-log up until the mid 1990s. They recieved the lowest priority...

Greg Scovel also let a spy go...Glenn Michael Souther was turned in by his wife (an Italian). Greg didn't believe her and failed to file a report. This is found in Early's book as well as being known and told by Souther's ex-wife, who works at NAVSUPPACT Naples Italy Disbursing office. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.27.1.18 (talk) 21:33, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Opening

edit

The first paragraph sounds like a marketing or recruitment piece and doesn't actually say what the agency does. I don't know enough about the subject to properly remedy it, but hopefully someone out there does. Cheers JonoP 17:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's because I think it's from the official NCIS website. I'm in the same boat you are, JonoP. Saxprodigy 22:33, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Saxprodigy, it's word-for-word from the site, which makes the article not particularly helpful. It's a parrot of the official version. Ubrgeek 15:19 7 Nov. 2009 (EST)

"United States Department of the Navy" and "primary Law Enforcement Agency" sound pretty clear and direct to me. What change to increase clarity do you suggest? --Purpleslog 22:22, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

This first Paragraph needs to make clear there is a real Government agency (Probobly links with FBI & NSA etc as one of the movie series clips claim same feeds at their fingertips) But this para reads first about the TV series and there is a page for that so add a link and delete the TV details here so we aren't so confused ~ I suggest. I will just add several words to get that idea right at the start. --113.187.0.219 (talk) 08:30, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

That's not a paragraph of the article, but what is called a hatnote, a pointer before the article itself to help people make sure they are at the right article. It is already properly formatted. oknazevad (talk) 19:58, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Anything else that need to be added

edit

Is there anything else that needs to be added to the article, i was a NCIS Special agent and I have heaps of un-classified photos and information so if anyone wants any photos or info I can get it ! --58.165.60.96 (talk) 00:46, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Headquarters Move

edit

The link regarding the NCIS HQ move to Quantico isn't correct. The link is Army CID, NOT NCIS. On NCIS' Official Website, the HQ is still listed as the Washington Navy Yard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.103.191 (talk) 05:08, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that too. They are moving but it is gradual, to be completed 09-2011. This link describes it better. Bthebest (talk) 14:27, 29 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you check the official NCIS website HQ will be listed ad the Russell Knox Building. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.214.28.82 (talk) 11:52, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Weapons section - irrelevant

edit

I think it is not relevant at all, it only lists the sidearms, they actually have a massive armory at NCIS headquarters, MP5K, CQBR, HK416, 5 round S&W handgun (used by NCIS SA's who have just joined the Service and for undercover operations), M16's, and the standard Marine and/or Navy equipment for agents overseas. Since none of this is deleted why not delete the section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.181.68.68 (talk) 11:36, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Templates redundancy

edit

If you check the "Links to related articles", there are 4 templates. The information of United States military law enforcement (last template) is included in the information of Federal law enforcement agencies of the United States (second last template). Thus, I believe the last template isn't needed and that it might be removed. — Nuno Agostinho (Say It!) 18:12, 7 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
