Yogita Thakre Death
editNo mention of the death of Yogita Thakre and the finding of her body in Gadkari's car?173.8.220.209 (talk) 15:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I will add this later. The current article is being stitched from down up. Once it gets done, i'll add more. You could help by adding instead of complaining.Unknownbroadway (talk)
- It is an WP:UNDUE as there was no explicit evidence that Gadkari was involved or linked to the murder. --Redtigerxyz Talk 12:28, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
The mention of that incident was just for documentary purpose and in way did it accuse nitin gadkari but had simply mentioned the events as they had unfolded. The majority - minority policy stated in UNDUE does not stand or relate. Unknownbroadway (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:33, 20 December 2009 (UTC).
- It is not needed for documentary purpose too. WP:UNDUE says "discussion of isolated events, ... about a subject may be verifiable and neutral, but still be disproportionate to their overall significance to the article topic."--Redtigerxyz Talk 05:49, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
POV and no references
editArticle reads like a highly flattering biography piece. No references of any kind. Extreme POV phrases like "Mr. Gadkari has become a saviour of Mumbai." Two things to be done 1)POV language has to be removed. 2) References need to be added —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sodabottle (talk • contribs) 15:02, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Need Help
editSo i've chopped down as much as i could and removed POV sentences and corrected grammar. Can someone help me add citations where it is needed.Unknownbroadway (talk)
I am ready to help you.--Sandeep 11:33, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- I have added basic information back to the article like education and early life details. All you clever wiki editors who felt the need to edit out these info, plz understand that this is not a playground. Gadkari is currently in the news for equating some people with faithful dogs. Please realise that these are just media squabbles and deserve no place on wikipedia. Nobody will remember them next week. Only include those things that are relevant in the long run. Regards Unknownbroadway (talk) 13:58, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
New Section
editI had created a new section and had added a sourced content, I will request the editors to discusses before removing it if they have any differences.--Sandeep 11:33, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Removed contentious, unsourced material
editI see a number of new accounts and editors editing with ip's adding a great deal of unsourced, defamatory information. I've gone ahead and removed it (at least to the last edit by an established editor), per WP:BLP's, "Contentious material about living persons (or recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion."
Can we proceed by providing sources and explanations? --Ronz (talk) 17:55, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Allegations of Corruption section
editUnless additional sources can be found, this should at least be trimmed back, if not outright removed. --Ronz (talk) 21:20, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

He is most probably Deshastha
editHe is a living person and requires self identification. Journalists can make mistakes as they sometimes assume caste based on blogs. Moreover, in this case there is a contradiction(see below). Second, I do not think that Gadkari ever comes in Deshastha caste based on my study on marathi castes. It is a very typical CKP name. Also, a family source is much more reliable than journalist opinion. See https://www.deccanherald.com/content/117185/nitin-gadkaris-sons-four-day.html "However, despite being fish and meat loving Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu Brahmin families, the marriage feast will be a purely vegetarian affair keeping in view the religious significance of the event, the family source added." His son's wife's name is Rutuja Pathak, a typical Brahmin name. So who is the CKP here?
I think the reason that Gadkari is sometimes confused to be deshastha instead of CKP is because of Ram Ganesh Gadkari who was a CKP. He was also assumed to be Deshastha probably because his closest friend and buddy was Acharya Atre (a deshastha) or because the Brahmin community honored RGG much more than his own CKP community ever did - no offence intended- (when his statue was thrown into the river by the Sambhaji Brigade all the CKP community did was have a "private protest meeting" in one of the theaters named after him. But the Brahmin community took practical steps by installing a photo. Sambhaji Brigade is associated with anti Brahmin attitude, and hence Gadkari was assumed to be Brahmin. We will never know the truth -but in any case unless he self-identifies we cannot add caste. Similarly, some people wrongly assume Sonali Bendre and Arun Shridhar Vaidya to be Koknasthas but they are both CKPs. Similarly Pu.la Deshpande was Saraswat but people assume he was Deshastha. Rani of Jhansi is Karhade but some people keep assuming she was deshastha. Marathi last names are the most confusing. :-( Acharya63 (talk) 07:27, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
Hi Acharya63 , Nitin Gadkari is definitely a Deshastha Brahmin, how? Let's analyse "Let's Drop Anchor". Outlook India..In the article the family themselves wrote mail that they are vegetarians, In another mail of Friday, July 5, 2013, a detailed plan from Vaibhav Dange is forwarded to the captain by Sunil Bajaj, from Essar Services. This mail lists Nikhil and Sarang Gadkari as contact persons, and lists their mobile numbers. The planner adds, “Everybody is Vegetarian and prefers Asian vegetarian that is Indian Veg, Chinese Veg etc”. - CKP's are not vegetarians, so the other option and the most popular one is Deshastha Brahmin. You might say that in some article someone wrote that despite being fish lover's they opted for vegetarian diet, but here the family themselves declared that they are Vegetarians. So they are definitely ✓Deshasthas, Thanks. MRRaja001 (talk) 13:33, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
News papers and Books claiming Nitin Gadkari as Deshastha Brahmin:
- Time for Nitin Gadkari to end regal detachment from tough issues - The Economic Times
- Son of the Sangh - The Caravan
- Orange man in saffron family - Hindustan Times
- Gadkari on top - Bangalore Mirror, India Times
- The Caravan: April 2018 - The Caravan
- Obediently yours - The Hindu, Business Line
- Can This Man Save the BJP? - Open, the Magazine
- Hi MRRaja001, I think you are correct - he is most probably Deshastha. The article that I referred to is very ambiguous - it might be referring to some relations- the only reason I gave it importance was because a family source was quoted rather than some journalist who might have googled to get information. But given all other factors you point out(veg etc.), he is Deshastha. I personally have no objection if you want Deshastha to the page. But some other editors might object as they do not allow caste mention on pages of living persons ( I personally feel we should mention caste for all living persons because it is part of identity and culture - almost like a race), but there was some consensus by some senior editors that caste can only be mentioned on the pages of non-living persons or if the person has self identified. I have changed the title of this section to reflect my current opinion. Thanks Acharya63 (talk) 06:00, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Acharya63, Thanks! for the confirmation. MRRaja001 (talk) 06:20, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
Article seems highly non-neutral and appreciative of the person.
edit"Nitin Gadkari served as the Minister of Public Works Department (PWD) of the Government of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999 and restructured it from top to bottom" )under political subheading.
"He is also known for his work as the Public Works Department Minister of the State of Maharashtra, where, under his leadership, a series of roads, highways and flyovers across the state were constructed – including the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, India's first six-lane concrete, high-speed expressway"- in introduction itself.
And many other sentences seems to appreciative, not to forget that it is a political page! Gyaansevak (talk) 14:48, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
