'This resulted in a tense racial and political climate. Three weeks before election day, the KKK had warned the African American community that "not a single Negro would be permitted to vote."' I humbly submit that 'a tense racial and political climate' is hardly an accurate description of the situation. This phrase implies equal and opposite volition, rather than, on the one side, an intention to exercise the constitutional right to vote, and on the other, a campaign of terroristic threats from a white supremacist organization. Likewise, 'warned' sounds like a friendly favor rather than, again, outright terrorism. This needs to be changed.Sebum-n-soda (talk) 18:32, 3 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Need to provide greater context for events as related to year-long voting drive in the state, and actions by numerous organizations to support that. It was a major civil rights effort in the state, based on veterans returning from the war and seeking equal rights and justice. Violence against black voters was widespread, topped by the riot in Ocoee. Ortiz covers that in his book.Parkwells (talk) 17:19, 21 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
The Ocoee Massacre was not just one of a lot of massacres that happened to take place in Ocoee. It is a specific group of events that constitute a unit, a whole. Therefore Ocoee Massacre is a proper name, and Massacre should be capitalized. Same thing for Rosewood Massacre.
