- ... that a reviewer praised child star Jane Withers' expressiveness in the title role of Paddy O'Day, saying that she "sings, dances, talks with eyes, hands, feet and hair"? Source: "Jane is versatile. She uses a County Cork brogue more than an inch thick, then doubles in Russian. She sings, dances, talks with eyes, hands, feet and hair". (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)
ALT1:... that in the 1936 comedy-drama Paddy O'Day, child star Jane Withers sings an Irish song with an Irish accent and a Russian song with a Russian accent?Source: "In Paddy O'Day, for example, she performs a Russian number in Russian costume and accent, "I Like a Balalaika" (Troy Sanders and Edward Eliscu), and sings "Keep a Twinkle in Your Eye" (Troy Sanders and Edward Eliscu) in an Irish accent". (Fantasies of Neglect)

- 5× expansion of 21 February 2020 version completed from 302 characters to 6,693 and nominated one day after first expansion. No copyvios detected and duplication detector check of online sources [1][2] reveal no close paraphrasing issues (AGF books and article scans which can't go through Dup detector). Article is well-sourced. Main hook is 169 characters long (ALT1 is 149); both are under the 200 character max. limit and are interesting. Refs 3 and 14 (verifying the hook and ALT1) are reliable sources from Google Books and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, respectively. QPQ done. Looks good to go! —Bloom6132 (talk) 02:00, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Bloom6132: I had tweaked the ALT1 hook because it was incorrect. The first song is not an "Irish song", but a song that Withers sang with her character's Irish accent. The second song wasn't really a Russian song, but a takeoff of one. I'm wondering if the ALT0 is simply the better option, in which case we could strike ALT1. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 11:17, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- Agreed, ALT0 would be the better choice since it is less ambiguous. Struck out ALT1 per your request. —Bloom6132 (talk) 17:06, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Bloom6132: Thank you. Now, I have one more question. It seems to me that the review should have had an "and" here:
She sings, dances, and talks with eyes, hands, feet and hair
, and that the last part of the quote refers to her talking, not to her singing or dancing. I wonder if the hook should be written this way: - ALT0a: ... that a reviewer praised child star Jane Withers' expressiveness in the title role of Paddy O'Day, saying that she "talks with eyes, hands, feet and hair"?
