Poor state of the article

edit

This article violates NPOV and has so many unsourced claims it's a little mindboggling. I don't think it fits to wikipedia's requirements for an article. It is notable in that it's a school but it's current form is terrible. I suggest replacing the whole thing with a stub and regrowing it. Bstone (talk) 06:28, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi everyone

edit

I'm the Transhumanist.

I heard you were having a party here, so I thought I'd stop by and join in.

Would you like to have some fun?

If we organize ourselves and work as a team, the article will become very nice very fast.

Shatheeshl, Naren87, and A.K.Karthikeyan, I noticed you have each done much work on the article. Many interesting details. I enjoyed reading them.

Zzuuzz, Shatheeshl, and Naren87, I would like to meet you, and I'm sure everyone else here would too. What I mean is, please introduce yourselves. One convenient way to do that is to write about yourself on your user page. Then we will all know each other better. A.K.Karthikeyan, I like your user page. I'm pleased to meet you.

Let's get started...

Please keep in mind that if your edits have been removed, there is no need to worry. They are all recorded forever in the article's history, and are waiting there for us to use them. Please be patient, and we'll work on including as many of them as we can.

Let's leave the article the way it is for now, and discuss how we should work together to make it better.

One of Wikipedia's main rules is that everything must be verifiable. And that means that every factual statement or claim made in an article should be accompanied by the citation of a reliable source. Please read these three pages I have linked. Then you will understand what we will be doing.

Naren87 and User:A.K.Karthikeyan, for your convenience, I have copied each of your most recent versions to a subpage of your user pages, so that you may more conveniently access them to work on and to copy from:

I recommend that you place the link to your version on your userpage so that you can get to it easily.

Now, let's start adding things back in to the article one at a time in the following way: find a reliable source for the statement you wish to add, and include the source in a citation with the statement when you add it to the article. (See WP:VER, WP:CITE, & WP:RS).

You can copy the style used for references in other articles, or use citation templates. But please, no external links (except in the external link section).

If someone adds a statement or fact to the article without a citation, please remove it. If you disagree with a sourced addition, please don't revert it; instead, discuss it on this talk page, and we'll work it out. Feel free to fix grammar and improve wording.

If you have any questions about anything, please feel free to ask.

A.K.Karthikeyan, Shatheeshl, and Naren87, may I ask you a favor? Please fill in your edit summaries. That will help us and each of you to understand what we are all doing when we look at the article's history. It's part of good communication, and will help things go more smoothly.

I hope you like my suggestions, and I look forward to your questions and ideas. And I look forward to working with you.

Thank you. Unless that image is in the public domain, someone needs to get permission from the college before we can use their copyrighted image on the article. The Transhumanist 21:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please see the policy Wikipedia:Original research. Your edits have been challenged by zzuuzz, and removed according to the policy WP:Verification. In order to add them back in, you need to find reliable published sources.
Basically, the facts presented in Wikipedia need to be verifiable. Otherwise, anyone could make up anything they wanted and add it to the encyclopedia. Many do exactly that. This requires others to patrol Wikipedia and remove false facts. But how can the removers tell the real facts from false ones? We have a rule to help with this. To tell the difference, we require that reliable published sources be provided. Material without reference citations is subject to removal and deletion. Editors who keep adding challenged material back in without including sources with it may be blocked.
Please read the policies and guidelines provided in the links above. Then you will know what to do.
When you are done reading those let me know, and we can get started. The Transhumanist 10:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
