Senate Ban
edit> Pantsuits were often deprecated as inappropriately masculine clothing for women. For example, until 1993, women were not permitted to wear pantsuits (or pants of any kind) on the United States Senate floor.[7][8][9] In 1993, Senators Barbara Mikulski and Carol Moseley Braun wore pants onto the floor in defiance of the rule, and female support staff followed soon after, with the rule being amended later that year by Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Martha Pope to allow women to wear pants on the floor so long as they also wore a jacket, thus allowing pantsuits, among other types of clothing.[8][9]
I'm genuinely looking for a canonical source on the above claims.
Citation #7 does include the line "After all, it wasn't until the early '90s that women were even allowed to wear pants on the Senate floor." -- but doesn't say anything about how that ban was placed or enforced. Citation #8 Also cites the presence of a dress code. But the dress code itself should be available somewhere, no? Citation #9 redirects from <http://www.rollcall.com/features/50th-Anniversary_2005/fifty_anniversary/-9592-1.html> to the front page of Rollcall. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.16.82.118 (talk) 20:08, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
Is "pant suit" not correct? I do not see it written that way on the page. 63.227.180.109 (talk) 17:16, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
"The most prominent advantage cited, however, is modesty: a woman wearing a pantsuit cannot be a victim of upskirt photography or accidentally expose herself by leaning over or sitting awkwardly."
Is this really the driving reason why people choose to wear pantsuits? Is this why Hillary Clinton wears a pantsuit? Need some kind of supporting citation for this statement, which seems highly speculative. 76.21.9.166 (talk) 03:45, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Choreographers Celia Rowlson-Hall and Crishon Landers with the help of film producer Mia Lidofsky created a flash mob dance video on 2 October 2016 in support of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, 2016 set to the music of Can't Stop the Feeling! by Justin Timberlake — with all of the dancers wearing pantsuits in reference to Hillary Clinton's outfit of choice.[1] They called the event #Pantsuitpower Flashmob for Hillary.[1] The video became popular, with coverage in news media including The Washington Post, The Guardian, and Vogue, — and garnering over 2 million views on Facebook.[1][2][3] From New York City, the Pantsuit Power movement then spread to Raleigh, North Carolina on 23 October 2016 with another flash mob.[4][5]
