edit"The city of Whitwell is located in an area where people are historically nicknamed "rednecks."" - is it just me, or is this statement a tad biased? I suggest it be removed --Broux 12:41, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- The source of that comment was local. The whole story is about teaching tolerance. In that context, perhaps the statement is appropriate. Vaoverland 12:46, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- I tried to make as NPOV as possible. But if you watch the movie they openly state that and discuss that prejudice and the project is there to teach it's all wrong. Renata3 13:50, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- I think if the redneck sentence was rewritten to imply it's directly from the film or a published source, it would work better.

Anyone going to be there with a camera?
editFascinating article — well done the authors! But a picture of the monument would be so good... — Johantheghost 15:05, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- totally agree with you, Johantheghost. Very interesting new article, so congratulations to the contributors. But it really is crying out for a photo! UkPaolo 17:20, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I know. The strangest thing - even in the movie they don't show the monument completely. They show a lot of paperclips, the railcar, but never what is inside... And I could not find any pic on the net too. Renata3 15:44, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, these are the only ones I could find:

Newbie here: It's my home town. Next time I'm up to visit (about 100 miles), I'll get a picture to post. Thanks for the wonderful artice! It makes my town look good.
* Well, I was watching the movie, but the DVD messed up, so I didn't see the monument. I always assumed it was just because the tape was demented.
from ny; i have a question
editi am in new york, i am a freshman and we are doing the holocaust. i started watching the documentry thursday[3/27] and finished it 2day [3/31/08]as we are reading a book [night by eli wesel]. this documentry thingy was about the holocouast .... it was interesting ^-^ but we didnt see the entire railcar. they just showed the part with the suitcase thats it.they didnt show the other side....that was the bad part of the entire movie.... this project was interesting and my class is thinking of starting one too :P thats my question..where can i find a good picture of it? thanks =]
oooo i noticed one thing...the day the railcar left for the school....it was september 11 2001......that is very very weird... it kind of goes 2gether; you know what i am saying...this project was to end hatred [ i guess] but here in new york there was an attack...it was by the terroists..it seems as if some people do not want there to world peace...people to be nice to others..no hatred or racism ... but its not like as if they new about the paper clip poject....maybe pple in germany or others new..but those terrositis were of some poor countires n i am sure they didnt know about the project .... [not really relavent] its sad how these pple..--going back 2 the holocaust....the germans thought they were suprior...
one more thing..this kid in my school...freshan he is too n also in 2 of my classes...he was GERMAN and he posted a video on youtube being racist aginst blacks and hispanics and others too. he also brought a nazi sign 2 school 1 day. but its sad how racism still exists 2day ...[just last week he posted it n then last fri he had 2 delete it as the deans [ well everyne in my school] found out..then a whole bunch of pple 2day were 2 jump him..i dont know if it occured though... if u have seen the video please tell me about it..others saw it ..they told me some parts but i want more info... it was call quin of kings....but on fri when i looked 4 it i found out that he had deleted it as he had 2...
this was really sad...
Link to photos added
editI just added a link to a page on Flickr with some photos of the memorial. Elsquared (talk) 08:19, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Elsquared. childrens in the school after morning prayer, one animated clip of 10 min. should be shown.in that clip main moral story is to maintain peace for whole life.
Should an update be made to reflect the middle school moving?
editA new middle school was built near the elementary and high schools a while back and the monument was moved with it. Should there be a reference to that in this article? FWIW: I grew up in Whitwell and go there often. I have some pictures of the monument if they are needed. We plan on going to the new location soon to see monument again.
