In 2014, new road sealing projects commenced on the PDR. The 2014 - 2019 sealing works is part of an Australian Federal Government and Queensland government joint funded the Cape York Region Package of which $200 million is purposed to progressively seal the PDR. Since the project commenced, an additional 68.8km of the PDR has been sealed. When the wet season is finished, Queensland Transport and Main Roads carries out full maintenance grading of the gravel sections of the PDR. This full maintenance grade usually takes around seven to eight weeks to complete, and usually occurs between April and June. The unsealed sections of the PDR are in their best condition following this grade.

[1] would appear to be a reliable source for the 68km sealing. Kerry (talk) 21:21, 24 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
