Split

I am not too sure about it but i might be better to split it into two articles. YSG was a member of HDK but not exactly a kurdish party while HEDEP now is a de facto take over by HDP. Braganza (talk) 11:34, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

It appears that the situation is... unconventional.

Even though I am from Turkey and I have such credential, as this is a political party registered in Turkey, I do not even know.

First problem:

As of current hour, both names still seem to host two different websites, both websites pretend the other does not exist, there are no link or reference of each others' names anywhere.

Green Left https://yesilsolparti.org/

DEM https://demparti.org.tr/

Second problem:

The "Green Left" was formed to incorporate left-wing and social issues inside the programme of Yeşiller (Green) party, the raison d'être seems to be this ideological change that was regarded as "undisciplined action in politics" by Milliyet (at that time, 2012, it was a left-wing/opposition newspaper). https://web.archive.org/web/20160307024643/http://www.turnusol.biz/public/haber.aspx?id=14211&pid=75&haber=Bas%FDn%20YGSPnin%20kurulu%FEunu%20nas%FDl%20g%F6rd%FC

But in 2020 Yeşiller seems to have reformed themselves and they seem to be an active political party https://yesiller.org.tr/ , if that is the case then for three years there were two incarnations of same party existing at the same time.

Third problem:

I am critical that it was a "takeover" of the political party, however it seems like an ideological transformation took place. A clique that rejected green solutions an environmentalist ideology outvoted the others prompting environmentalists to leave the political party in 2016 https://yesilgazete.org/yesil-siyaset-platformu-ysgpden-ayrildi/

But to what degree this might have happened is up to question at best, an insider information is required.

So, both titles (Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party and Greens Party (Turkey)) seem to eligible to contain history of, now semi-existent?, Green Left Party.

My suggestion is to copy the Green-Left section of this article to Greens Party (Turkey) because it seems to be history of both parties connect at the time when two cliques in Green Left could not agree on ideological disputes.

Green Left claims that they are still active, one month ago they even changed logo with red sun and a green leaf:

So, current situation is (correct me if I am wrong)

• Yeşiller changed name to Green Left to include general left wing audience in their ranks in 2012
• Green Left adopted non-environmental solutions and voted out original Yeşiller members in 2016
• Yeşiller reformed themselves in 2020, entering from list of Workers' Party of Turkey (2017).

And then

• Green Left changed name to HEDEP and then DEM. Officially seems like it is as same as Green Left.
• Old members of Green Left's old party council officially reformed Green Left in 2023. Claims to be the original Green Left.
• The members left in 2016 reformed Greens Party (Turkey) in 2020, it also claims succession.
• There is also https://yesilsolparti.org/ which pretends Green Left party never changed name and pre-congress party co-leaders are still in power(?!)

if anyone can fix this Ship of Theseus problem I would be glad to listen, because this seems unsolvable and can create a significant indexing problem. Cactus Ronin (talk) 19:47, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

but uff this goes even beyond Democratic Party of Albania or the "diapora" of the old Christian Democratic Party in Italy level

yes, the Twitter adress one has consulted the yargıtay of Ministry of Interior (Turkey) and they were designated with their own announcation/bildiri, manifesto/tüzük and program:

could it be that https://yesilsolparti.org/ is just extremely outdated? I cant find any dates but it looks like it stopped being active in 2023

then i think (based on your timeline):

• Yeşiller was founded in 2002
• Yeşiller became YSP in 2012
• Old Yeşiller Guard was expelled from YSP in 2016
• Yeşiller was refounded in 2020
• YSP became a shelf party for HDP and became HEDEP->DEM in 2023
• the old leadership of YSP re-registered the party under a new logo in 2023

So i would propose three 3 articles: one for YSP (both 2012 & 2023 versions), one for Yeşiller (both 2012 & 2020) and one DEM (including a background section for the 2023 election)

Yes, 2023 incarnation of YSP should be separate page from this.

the YSP became a evasion party for HDP (which HDP was befor for BDP), as it was restricted by yargıtay.

so essentially

DEM=Old YSP

New YSP = a new party

i dont think we should separate Yeşiller into two different pages, it is same platform and tüzük seem to be only slightly updated.
