Error creating thumbnail: convert: unable to open image `/mnt/upload3/wikipedia/en/a/a3/Peri2.jpg': No such file or directory. convert: missing an image filename `/mnt/upload3/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a3/Peri2.jpg/200px-Peri2.jpg'.

I got this error in 2 browsers, but could see no weirdness in the template markup or this file specifically. It looked fine on a preview so I just added an irrelevant space and all looks well now. TransUtopian 01:45, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Peri's Step-Father

I've noticed that this entry says that Peri's step-father was killed and that's why she decided to join the Doctor on his travels. Not true. Howard Foster was still alive and healthy on Earth and Kamelion even confirms this when she asks where Howard was.--Alan-WK 23:01, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Nicola Bryant's nationality

As I recall from some source or other (DWM?), one of Nicola's parents is American.

Then again, perhaps this was spin: the media fanfare for Peri as an upcoming companion, spurred by JNT, misconstrued Nicola as an American actress.

IIRC Bryant's parents are both British, but her first husband was American, so she had dual nationality. Timrollpickering (talk) 00:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Peri's Nationality

As far as I know - USA passports list place of BIRTH, not residence, and don't include the city - but I don't know if there was a close-up on her passport in the series with a misconstrued "City of residence" or whatever, so I don't want to change the active text without that info.. I take it you're referring to the statement, "her passport lists her residence as Pasadena, California," in the article. I just took a look at my own US Passport. It has the state and country of my birth, not the city. There is a space provided, where I am urged to PENCIL in my current address. Life after the Doctor

Problems with this article: doubling of information and "controversies" in the Character history section and Nationality sections

Has no-one noticed that the Other appearances section mostly doubles ad nauseum the Appearances section?

This paragraph may belong somewhere in the article, if it can be sourced, but it certainly doesn't belong where it was. I have moved it here for comments.

Peri was one of the more controversial companions, with some critics complaining about the motivation for adding a character who spent much of her time on screen wearing revealing outfits. Series producer John Nathan-Turner admitted that Peri was created to add sex appeal to the series. Similar criticisms had been levelled against the character of Leela nearly a decade earlier. Beginning with the story Timelash, and continuing through the Trial season, Peri's mode of dress became more conservative.

So, are there source(s) for any of this? If so, where would it belong?

Though Peri Brown was the first American character to travel with the Doctor, she was played by British actress Nicola Bryant. Bryant's affected accent slips slightly on occasion (and "wanders" from one side of the U.S. to the other in various serials) and she sometimes uses words of British usage rather than American, such as "lift" instead of "elevator" (she discusses this on the commentary for Attack of the Cybermen, stating that she was told that using American words would confuse the audience). According to the Planet of Fire DVD commentary, actress Nicola Bryant was told to continue using her American accent between takes and during public appearances to cover up the fact that she was not actually American.

I realize there is a source for this, but it's not very well written as it stands currently and really, I don't see how "nationality" should have a section devoted to it all to itself. Really, this is criticism of Bryant's acting ability with respect to doing the accent, so it's got absolutely sweet f.a. to do with the character's own nationality. In other words, if first paragraph belongs anywhere, it would belong together with this one as a larger section on criticism of the character and/or her portrayal within a section called Reception.
