Translation
editHey, the Innocent sin (as you may or may not know) was finally fan translated, and I put mention of it in the general summary at the top, I dunno how to do links and references thou (and I am at school and do not have much time to learn how to) so heres the link http://tsumi.wordpress.com/2008/10/15/all-is-lost/ (I hope this is good) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.228.125.100 (talk) 15:32, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Just some recommended to do's. Not integral but would be nice to have in the article:
- 1) Mention of Persona 2 soundtracks such as Persona 2 Batsu Punitive Dance (http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/persona2-pd/index.html)
- 2) A Reception section.
- 3) Fleshed out storyline section. A complete and detailed synopsis could be valuable to those who want to remember certain plot points.
- The article is coming along great. It's definetely one of the better articles regarding a Megami Tensei game. If anyone has other recommendations please list and discuss them.
-EditingMachine
- The 1 and 2 are quite common in other WP VG projects. But the detailed game story is debatable. -- Sameboat - 同舟 02:36, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Soundtracks
editI can't believe how much conflict there is about this, I thought this would help flesh out a lot of pages! Anyways, what is the solution for the soundtrack section? Should the soundtracks have their own pages or should we just put a tracklist table on each of them and call it a day? --EditingMachine
- Preserve the soundtrack section, yes. Build another soundtracks topic, no. Even the Music of Final Fantasy XII is quite a filler in WP IMHO. -- Sameboat - 同舟 07:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand how that page is filler. It would seem to be out of place on the main article page yet if it didn't exist, no article would deal with the FF12 soundtracks. When editing a video game article we have limited information to rely on. Let's keep in mind that we have little media to reference (the game itself and its soundtracks, merchandise, art, etc.) as compared to a topic related to a scientific field which has far more information to reference. We have to work with what we got. --EditingMachine 07:58, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- At the very least, I think we Wikipedians have the obligation to balance between editing scientific data and fandom advertising. I can surely say, most WP founders prefer the scientific articles to be expanded rather than those in entertaining (popular culture) field. This article, Persona 2, is really an excellent model compared to other scaled VG articles in Wikipedia. I pray that this will not be ruined. -- Sameboat - 同舟 08:18, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- "Flesh out a lot of pages"??? All you would be doing is writing non-referenced stuff about soundtracks and drama CDs, some (most?) of which weren't even released outside Japan. If you want to add a bare list of soundtracks to the game article, that's fine. Johnnyfog 13:31, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
VG Assessment
editThis is in regards to the request at the VG Assessment page. I'm rating this article as B-class, Low-importance. Here are a few tips to improve it!
Gameplay- you don't need to say what buttons are used- that's too detailed. Done Johnnyfog (talk) 17:24, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Contacting demons- Try not to use bulleted lists. Done Johnnyfog (talk) 17:24, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Reception- way too short! Even if one of them was never released out of Japan, you should be able to find more than that. Try to find someone who speaks Japanese at the VG Wikiproject if you need it.
Other than that, this article is really good. B! --PresN 15:27, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Translation
editI had to read through the entire article to even find out an English patch was created. (though the English screenshots were a hint) That kind of statement doesn't belong in a Reception section anyway, so I've moved it to the top. Only afterwards did I notice that it was once in the lead and someone had moved it way down there. Please comment if you don't think this is an important enough fact for the Lead. The bit about the fan translation also needs to be reworded, as it implies that the US release of Eternal Punishment changed the names of most of the characters. That's false information, as the only characters that had their names changed from the Japanese release were characters in the first game. 174.107.128.117 (talk) 03:01, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Innocent Sin remake reminder
editAlthough there's already one magazine scan's leaked, the image is too blur to tell which platform it will be released on[1]. As per WP:reliable source, please wait until more info uncovered, preferably after the official site is opened. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 01:44, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Vandalism...?
edit"Resurection of Adolf Hitler"? I could be mistaken, but I really doubt that this was in the game. P.S. If this isn't how you should report vandalism, then I apologize. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.73.131 (talk • contribs) 10:36, 26 November 2010
- Hitler is actually in the game. Reach Out to the Truth 17:04, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Wow...Ok. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.94.202 (talk) 20:40, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Spoiler: Hitler appears due to the power of rumor become reality, but in fact he is one of many disguises of Nyarlathotep, the game's primary antagonist. The rumor says Hitler is not dead at the end of 2nd War World, but hiding in South Pole with his last battalion. So "Resurrection of Hitler" is not accurate. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 01:03, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Move title or not
editAs expected, Atlus US added the "Shin Megami Tensei" in the PSP Innocent Sin remake title, so what should we do to the article title now? First, I tend to not split the article into IS and EP because they share the same background and gameplay. This will cause inconsistency if we move this article to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 due to EP's PSX English title does not contain the "Shin Megami Tensei". As per WP:CRYSTAL, we should not assume when EP receives the PSP remake, its English title will have the "SMT" as well. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 09:44, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Split?
editProposing for discussion a split of the 'duology'. An idea would be to keep a Persona 2 duology page that links the common themes of the two games and create a separate page for each game. They were released as separate games after all. Ideas/opinions? Punkalyptic (talk) 04:50, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Checking against GA criteria
edit- It is reasonably well written.

- "The original version was not localized for western territories, but the PSP version was released" - however
- "Persona 2: Innocent Sin is a role-playing game where the player takes control of a group of High School students" - should high school be capitalised here?
- Personally I would rephrase "Innocent Sin began development after the release and success of Persona" to Development of Innocent Sin began after the release and success of Persona
- "The original audio was lauded by Bartholow, saying the voice acting" - stating

This article meets the GA criteria and I couldn't find anything worthy of putting this on hold, so I'll pass it now. Well done! JAGUAR 11:19, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Cover arts
edit@ProtoDrake and IDV: I applaud your contributions in Persona 2: Innocent Sin. However, I believe that the original Japanese box art should be the main infobox image. Meanwhile, the PSP cover art should be pushed down to one section. The English release was twelve years after the original Japanese release. After the FFD discussion about Star Ocean (video game) images, probably we should use that page as precedent to this. What do you say? --George Ho (talk) 07:09, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- @George Ho: While the basic idea may be sound, I can think of a couple of things. The first one is the fact that in other GAs I've done, it's not been the done thing to have two different cover arts as part of the same page. Other is that I thought using the English cover was preferable. Another point I'd like to mention is that the file for Star Ocean's PSP cover is at this moment under discussion due to its usage, so using the same tactic on other articles before the Star Ocean issue is thoroughly settled seems premature. --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:40, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, the approach is case-by-case. The main issue is centrally discussed at WT:VG#Added Japanese front covers of Japan-only original releases. Can you say "Star Ocean issue" instead? The "main issue" sounds vague to describe. --George Ho (talk) 08:47, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- Amended, and having looked at Star Ocean, I've reevaluation my position (and left a comment to that regard). I suppose the original cover art for Innocent Sin can be inserted, and the PSP cover shifted down to the "Port and localization" section. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:00, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- Reinserted the original Japanese PlayStation cover art. George Ho (talk) 07:45, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Update: per WT:VG talk, I re-removed the original PS cover. I'll allow discussion to continue. George Ho (talk) 16:36, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
Screenshots of original PlayStation version
editI found out that the screenshots of the battle and contacting demons were removed. Those were from the original game. While both may be essential, one of them may be undeleted to be reinserted. Meanwhile, the PSP screenshot could be moved elsewhere. --George Ho (talk) 07:14, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Belatedly pinging ProtoDrake. --George Ho (talk) 08:03, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- THe policy is using English screenshots when they're available. And they're available. I don't think we need to add even more images to the article. --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:57, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
