There are other Peter Howitts and Peter Howitt (economist) just won a Nobel Prize. This aricle should be moved to Peter Howitt (actor). ReyHahn (talk) 12:13, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

• Before looking at the data: Given the Nobel, I'm partial towards Peter Howitt (economist) being the primary topic. Happy to help cleaning up incoming links. I won't be upset at all if there is no primary topic either.

Looking at the data: looking at the actual page view data (which was a bit difficult to get), it seems very clear though that reads of Peter Howitt far outnumbered Peter Howitt (economist) before the Nobel. Comparing to what happened to two of the last year's winners, Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson, or from 2022 I would say it does not predict that, beyond this one month, Peter Howitt (economist) would necessarily remain the most-read article of the three Peters we have here.

After looking at the data: I ain't sure. The data from the last few years would predict that winning the Nobel leads to a sustained 5x-20x readership increase, maybe even a bit more, which would not be enough to propel it above the actor and director. I'd still like to see one of the two changes, but the data doesn't really support it. I think I was hasty with the move. --denny vrandečić (talk) 06:19, 14 October 2025 (UTC)

And I was just thinking I was a bit hasty with pointing the redirect back to the actor. I didn't realize the truly huge number of readers looking for the economist today. Thanks for checking the numbers as to what may happen in the future. Based on that, I think I would hold off on this proposed move until things settle down a little. In the meantime, I've added a hatnote on the actor's article pointing directly to the economist, since it's obvious that most readers want the economist, in the short term at least. • Oppose': Peter Howitt (actor) while Hollywood famous is not one of the greatest stars. Peter Howitt (economist) just won a Nobel Prize, that's the highest award one could get in his field and his work is going to be discussed for ages, long after Howitt (actor) movies are too old to be watched. Looking at a 10 year timeframe for views, the actor was the clear primary topic, but in past year the economist is marginally higher than the actor already, even if too recent to move the economist to base name as primary topic.
