No it isn't. This article is a general encyclopedia article about this particular car model, aimed at non-enthusiasts and the general reader. Therefore I have removed all of the non-encyclopedic and irrelevant "tuning tips", etc. This sort of thing is too specialist amd belongs elsewhere. In addition it was not written in the appropriate style for this article. Hopefully this won't be controversial, but if you contributed these sections, please try and get a feel for what wikipedia is all about before indignantly reverting, or whatever. Could it be any worse?
editThis might be a serious contender in the "Worst Wikipedia Article on a Car" category! It contains more POV than probably all Proton articles collectively, in fact the infobox might be the only POV-free fragment! It is stuffed with factoids and opinions that should have never made it there, fails to follow a host of Wikipedia policies and guidelines, both regarding automotive articles and general, it makes teeth ache and small children cry. Please help! Bravada, talk - 19:27, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Agree - ridiculous POV to disguise fact 406 is just a French Honda Accord. Tried to fix.66.229.151.43 19:43, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Some maturity please
editThe above comments could be a bit more, you know, grown-up. I would like to see a citation proving the 406 is "just a French Honda Accord" please. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.38.160.165 (talk) 17:21, 16 January 2007 (UTC).
Changed one weblink
editChanged new.406oc.co.uk to www.406oc.co.uk to refelct new site. Nickweb 15:20, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Can't agree more. Seems like some people merely have a distaste for Peugeots. I can see no POV in the article at all. Maybe they don't like the facts and figures given... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.106.101.164 (talk) 09:16, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Article copies text of external website?
editMany parts of the article are word-for-word (or copy-and-paste) identical to text at peugeot.mainspot.net. From the writing style of other articles on the latter site I'd judge that the text in our article is copied from that one rather than the other way round. The article does not credit peugeot.mainspot.net or include an External link to it. --John Stumbles 11:57, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Engines
editThere is better info on german wikipedia, it would be better if all horsepowers are in PS/KW format, that hp doesnt tell anything what standard its measured....--— Typ932T | C 08:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe, but PS/KW is still quite rare in the UK. Most British reviews, and many ads, still use bhp. 86.132.138.205 22:13, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I know and that conversion template hasnt got bhp unfortunately, but bare hp is not good if you dont know the standard. and its much harder to find actual bhp figures than PS or other same horsepowers used in most other countries, anyway now its messy with PS/bhp/hp/kW numbers--— Typ932T | C 22:54, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Modified the engine power output according to my Peugeot manual realeased by Peugeot. However, the PS-KW-HP conversion is completely off, Like its 210PS for one engine but came out as 150KW and 210HP, so I changed it to 211PS which converted it to 155KW and 208HP. Same crazy conversion goes for all the models. 01/05/2014 User: Random who has an account but too lazy to log in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.60.8.157 (talk) 12:23, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
English?
editI don't know whether the 406 was sold in the U.S. If it wasn't, though, wouldn't it be better to use British English for the article - "petrol" rather than "gasoline", "saloon" rather than "sedan", etc? 86.132.138.205 22:12, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Agree completely, someone's been Americanising a lot of UK/ European car articles lately even if they were only briefly imported into parts of America. I'm sure that's in breach to some of Wikipedia's guidelines towards home markets. 81.137.240.118 (talk) 09:41, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
UK Production?
editThe article seems to suggest the 406 was assembled in the UK but I don't believe it was. AFAIK the only cars being produced in Ryton at the time were the 306 and 206. --Zilog Jones (talk) 11:41, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
