Diagram
editIf someone could create a really nice diagram for this page, I'd appreciate it! Showing a cross section of the pits, with heating arrows through the holes in the double skinned wall etc...

NOT invented by the Victorians
editA pinery (another name for a pineapple pit) is mentioned in chapter 22 of Northanger Abbey (Jane Austen), completed 1803, published 1817 during the reign of George III — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adagio67 (talk • contribs) 22:53, 22 February 2019 (UTC) Is it possible that a pinery is not the same as a pineapple pit? It seems that a pinery is more similar to a vinery greenhouse. a pineapple pit seems to be an entirely different structure geared specifically to provide the high heat that pineapples require in order to be grown successfully in winter so far north of the equator in europe. I became interested in the subject and watched the documentary and purchased relevant reading material I hope to provide relevant properly sourced info. Probably after watching the documentary again it was well worth it. Godspeed18 (talk) 05:03, 14 January 2022 (UTC) [1]Godspeed18 (talk) 05:06, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
Major update
editI am unsure if these relevant sources should be included on this page which references the very specific pineapple [growing] pit utilized in europe to grow status symbol pineapples or should be used to update the relevant section on the pineapple (fruit) page. regardless these are the sources I have gathered so far.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]Godspeed18 (talk) 05:14, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
