Article's name
editI'm aware that the title of the series at Viz Media's site is Pluto: Urasawa x Tezuka,[1] but I'm sure that the 'x' is not supposed to be an 'x', but a sign similar to that of series such as Hunter × Hunter and Spy × Family (note that the × symbol in both series is also often replaced by an x in several sites, including Viz Media itself).[2][3][4][5] That being the case, shouldn't the same logic apply to this article or is there any compelling reason to believe that it is a simple x? - Agreed. It's clearly not the English letter x in the actual books, as can be seen on the edition notice and other pages at the end of each volume. Xfansd (talk) 04:07, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'm looking for a precedent or example in MOS:JAPAN. There's a reference to avoiding "non-language characters", and WP:TSC instructs editors to avoid similar symbols. In this case, would the "×" (not found on an English keyboard) fall under these restrictions? GimmeChoco44 (talk) 04:52, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- I feel somewhat conflicted about this policy. I started a discussion at WT:TITLE just in case. Anyway, per WP:COMMONNAME, I would prefer to keep the previous name of the article, "Pluto (manga)", as I'm sure that the series is better known simply as Pluto, and the guideline also states: "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's official name as an article title". - I would also support using "Pluto (manga)" as the article title. It's much more recognizable among readers and would avoid a lot of future problems with well-meaning name changes going back and forth. Major sites such as Polygon and Publisher's Weekly list the series with the single-word title. GimmeChoco44 (talk) 05:11, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
