Nabokov’s theory of evolution
editPerhaps it is worth noting that the famed author Vladimir Nabokov was also an expert in the study of this group.
“In 1945, the study of butterfly genitalia led Nabokov to his most daring scientific hypothesis, on the relationship between Old World and New World blues. Nabokov believed that blues of the genus Polyommatus had originated in Asia, moved through Siberia to the Bering Strait, and headed south to the New World, eventually reaching as far as Chile. Few professionals took his theory seriously at the time, but in 2011 DNA evidence proved him right.”

I find it interesting, but it may be considered trivial to others.
The notability of such research does indeed lie in the status of the person making the claim, and his accomplishments outside of Lepidopterologica.
Any second opinions?
