Karmann Ghia

Despite being said to be rather poor, Andie Walsh drives a vintage sports car—a very 80's "dusty rose" pink Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.

At the time of the movie, Karmann Ghias were at a low point in value and certainly weren't considered a "vintage sports car" by automotive enthusiasts. Not to insult them, but they are basically gussied-up VW Beetles (which they were based on). It's really not unrealistic for Andie to have been driving one, especially one that was in the condition shown in the movie. Thus, I think this bit of "trivia" should be eliminated.

"Hancock Park High School"

There is no "Hancock Park High School" in Los Angeles. Was the film actually shot at Los Angeles High School, just south of the Hancock Park district in Mid-City; Fairfax High; or perhaps at the Marlborough School, a private high school in Hancock Park? --69.220.180.2 08:37, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Use of Instant Messaging

This is a true statement so I'm not sure why is was considered "original research" and hence removed:

An interesting note was the use of instant messaging between two computers (library scene). While technically this did exist in 1986 with the talk program on Unix, it was not widely used and did not support graphics, as shown in the movie.

Spelling of Blane McDonough/McDonnagh's last name

There seems to be some dispute among WP:RS over how the character's last name is spelled. For example, US Weekly, The Chicago Tribune, and The Hollywood Reporter spell it McDonough, while sources like Metro, NPR, and NBC News/Today spell it McDonnagh. It appears most sources use the spelling of McDonough, but there is certainly a dispute. I feel like consensus needs to be reached on the spelling. Wikipedialuva (talk) 02:26, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Is there any particular reason the surname needs to be included at all? Sticking to simply "Blane" seems like a perfectly cromulent way of cutting the Gordian Knot. Otherwise, if there is widespread disagreement, one solution might be to use whichever spelling is most common among the sources and add an {{explanatory footnote}} that some sources spell it differently. This seems like a classic OR issue. If the end credits and the AFI Catalog don't feel the need to assign surnames then it shouldn't be necessary on Wikipedia either. Betty Logan (talk) 15:40, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
