The "rather obvious lewd anagram" in the title is not obvious to me. If relevant, I think it should be explicated, or otherwise not mentioned. Christian Campbell 22:28, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I didn't get it either, at first. The trick is that the only word with its letters rearranged is the last one, and it has a different spelling and pronunciation in US english and UK/Australian/NZ english. To help you work it out, think of an alternate meaning for the first word of the title, and then figure it out from there.--Eric TF Bat 04:57, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's still coincidental and completely irrelevant to the film itself; I've removed it for these reasons. María: (habla conmigo) 01:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is terribly unfortunate literalism on the part of Wikipedians. The anagram was absolutely intended by Orton, and that coded gay language functions importantly in Frears's film as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.244.145.61 (talk) 00:26, 26 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Original research

edit

I have deleted the following example of original research from the article:

Title

"Prick Up Your Ears" was to be the title of an unreleased play by Orton; Ironically, Halliwell, who had provided many of Orton's titles throughout his successful years, suggested the title. In the title, the word "Ears" is an anagram of the word "Arse" making Prick Up Your Ears a rather blunt reference to the homosexual subject matter. It is also a phonetic play on the conjunction of "your" and "ears" to produce "rears", which also alludes to gay sex. 92.232.213.188 (talk) 11:02, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Also, I must say, the word 'ironically' is heinously misused in the above section. 92.232.213.188 (talk) 11:04, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
