In shrek 2, as he was cat-burgling the potion, he mentions being someone in one of his previous (9) lives. Who? He insinuates this person was a great thief...

Apparently, he was in a Game Boy Advance game that prequelled the sequel yet stayed in the storyline of the sequel.
