Why do they put it in cigarettes?
edit"Its use or purpose, however, is unknown, like most cigarette additives."
I don't think that's true; I think they use it for a well-known reason. Anyone know what it is? —Keenan Pepper 18:52, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think it was listed on their list of additives because it happened to be present in some oil or other that they use. The reference given is hardly NPOV. I would be amazed if pyrrole were not present in cigarette smoke or in cigarettes themselves, but as it stands the paragraph is not particularly helpful. Physchim62 (talk) 13:34, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, so it's not actually added on purpose, it just sneaks in there. Should we just remove that bit from the article, or what? —Keenan Pepper 19:29, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Reactivity
editI have reorganized the article a bit and have tried to add enough detailed reaction information to be useful but not so much as to require the reader to be a heterocyclic chemist. Any comments?
Also, I too take issue with the cigarette smoke comment. Perhaps we can at least add enough other "uses" to not have this remark stand out so much? Shultzc 00:37, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Isn't it also used to make paint? Pyrrole red and scarlet? 86.42.223.160 21:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Pyrrole Red
editThis stuff is used as a pigment in acrylics, amirite? (Momus (talk) 21:15, 4 November 2008 (UTC))
Synthesis
editThere is a mistake - the product is 1-Benzoyl-3,4-dimethylpyrrole not the diethyl derivative (as shown). --FK1954 (talk) 20:30, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
