DRM scheme
editThe plan seems to be to require an always-on internet connection so that the game can be in contact with the mothership (?) at all times. Or something.
Would like to see more information on what that means for players and for the company. I am probably, however, not the best person to be writing and citing that bit, as I despise Ubisoft in general (they RUINED Rainbow Six. -.- ) and regarded this bit of work as their redemption until I realized they were going to hamstring it like that. Can you say POV? I can. Six or seven times fast. I hate these people, even though I have loved Ruse so far.

- The DRM system used in R.u.s.e. does require a connection to the ubisoft servers, however, many games require such connections. the reason that so much fuss is made about this particular one is that their server were attacked not long ago, and the people who purchased the game have been unable to play. games that use such system include BFBC2, MW2, TF2, all BF series to date, etc. The reason why no one complains about these games it that they never went offline. - You are incorrect, sir. Ubisoft is a pioneer in this regard. Other multiplayer titles which rely on a master server administered by the publisher/developer may require a connection to that master server for multiplayer to be useful, but you aren't prohibited from using single-player or offline modes of gameplay. Ubisoft is making persistent internet connections a requirement for games which don't even have multiplayer modes. It's all in a pointless attempt at preventing piracy. Apparently Ubisoft executives don't understand that the people in the warez scene will just remove or circumvent this requirement when they release the pirated version on the internet. This has the net effect of making the pirated release more user friendly than a legitimate copy. BobbyPeru (talk) 18:53, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
