famous?
editwhere's the evidence for the claim that this was "one of the most famous mosques in Cairo"? Cairo has many mosques and this article didn't even exist yet a month ago a believe... plus the article should mention when it was built. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.14.178.109 (talk) 20:51, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
Intact or Destroyed?
editThe press reported it was destroyed, yet someone here says it's intact. We need a citation to support the contention that it is intact, if true. Tmangray (talk) 03:03, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Coordinate error
edit{{geodata-check}}
The following coordinate fixes are needed for the above article in arabic and english geohack
The previous coordinates N: 30.068861 E: 31.322139 refer to "Abeer Al-Islam Mosque" (مسجد عبير الإسلام) which a different Mosque in the area that does not have an article in wikipedia. the correct coordinates for the article:
Rabaa Al-Adwawiya Mosque ...in English wiki and مسجد رابعة العدوية ...in arabic wiki are
N: 30.067000 E: 31.325600
This mosque is famous because it has witnessed the massacre commited by the Egyptian Army/Police against the sit-in supporters of the deposed President Mohamed Morsi, the first democratically elected civilian president of Egypt, by the Minister of Defense Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (the current de facto President) in what is known as the 2013 Egyptian coup d'état. Offical records declare at least 638 deaths where shot/burned to death in that incident. Unoffical estimates indicate that the numbers of causilities/victims mount up to +3000 deaths. —علي سمسم (talk) 13:07, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
- It looks as though the coordinates in the English and Arabic articles currently do correspond to those that you specify as correct above (indeed, those in the English article have done so for several months). I've also emended them in the Wikidata entry for the place, so don't see that any further action is required here. Deor (talk) 16:05, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
