Expansion

edit

I removed the edits by User:Vosizneias because they are unsourced and violate WP:POV and WP:NOTNEWS. It is also unclear whether WP:COI applies to the editor posting this edit. I am currently working on an expansion of this article according to WP:BIO guidelines, and hope to post it shortly. Yoninah (talk) 15:56, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

User:Satmar1, possibly a SOCK of User:Vosizneias, has been reverting my edits and also re-posting images that have been deleted for copyright infringement at Commons. I have just posted a new, sourced version of this article. If it is reverted without explanation, I will apply for administrative intervention. Yoninah (talk) 16:38, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Election in September or November of 2016?

edit

Some of the sources say she was elected as a Civil Court Judge in September 2016. Other sources say she won the democratic primary in September 2016 and won election in November 2016 as an unopposed candidate. The article is inconsistent and should be made clearer--especially before being featured on the "Did you Know" section of the main page, with the election date as the "hook"EAWH (talk) 22:01, 21 November 2016 (UTC).Reply

I don't think there's any discrepancy between the article and hook. The article makes it clear she won the primary in September and is running unopposed in November, so for all intents and purposes, she's elected. The hook says that in September she became the first Hasidic Jewish woman elected as a civil court judge in New York. That is a fact, whether it was a primary or not. I don't think that's correct. After the primary, she was not the first elected Judge. Similar to Hillary Clinton who is not the first elected President, they are both the first nominated. Freier was elected as a judge in November, in September she just became her party's nominee for the position. 🔯 Sir Joseph 🍸(talk) 00:10, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
This is true. Also, the infobox currently shows her as the incumbent, although her term doesn't begin until January 1. (And many of the fields in the infobox, such as predecessor, are not going to work since we never index state lower-court judges by specific seats.) I replaced the infobox. Yoninah (talk) 10:32, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
