Improvement

edit

Can anyone please update this page with relevant information from Indian astronomical texts. This article is written purely from the view of Puranas and related mythology and doesn’t make reference on how the ancient-medieval astronomers(Aryabhata, Varahamihira, Brahmagupta etc.) and astronomical treatises(Suryasiddhanta, Kerala school etc) dealt with these shadow planets/lunar nodes. I would have done it myself but I am busy with personal stuffs. ChandlerMinh (talk) 10:07, 24 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Poor references

edit

The article does not mention where exactly in the ancient texts the story of Rahu and Ketu with the separation of Svarbhanu's head and body can be found. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A46C:5788:1:99EA:D3C1:992E:BB3D (talk) 11:25, 9 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Legends Section

edit

Hi everyone! I saw that the 'Legends' section needs expansion. I've done some research on 2 lesser known stories about Rahu and intend to add them within the next few days. I'm new to Wikipedia, so any advice or tips are welcome and would be appreciated. SergeantMeow (talk) 03:41, 1 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Welcome. One of the most common concerns raised in Hinduism-related articles are the lack of reliable sources to cite content, which add a false sense of credibility. In your inclusion to this article, I don't think websites like mahabharataonline and wisdomlib count as reliable sources. Try to identify the legends and cite them from the text Mahabharata itself, you can probably find them on Google Books or archive.org. Read well-written articles in the subject of your liking and you'll soon get an intuitive sense of how to contribute. Chronikhiles (talk) 07:45, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much for the pointers! I've changed some of those references now. I appreciate your help. SergeantMeow (talk) 16:46, 4 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
And I appreciate your changes, you've done excellent work for a new editor! Chronikhiles (talk) 05:34, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
