Broadcast Time of Ramayan in India

The articles cites The Life of a Text: Performing the Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas that gives the broadcast time of the Ramayan TV series from January 25,[3] 1987, to July 31,[4] 1988. This is incorrect. I was in India throughout March 1989 and witnessed train stations closing down and things coming to a halt for the duration of the programme. In the book Politics after Television: Hindu Nationalism and the Reshaping of the Public in India (Paperback) by Arvind Rajagopal we see that "The Ramayan epic was serialized on national television in India from January 1987 to August 1989..." Ramayan ended its original broadcast at the end of July 1988, but the follow-up series Luv Kush (then broadcast as Uttar Ramayan) began its broadcast about a month or so later. That's probably what you saw in India and that's probably what the book was referring to (since Luv Kush/Uttar Ramayan is still about the Ramayana epic). (Ramayan had only 78 episodes and aired weekly, so it couldn't have stretched out over 2 years and 8 months, which amounts to over 120 weeks.) --Kbir1 23:44, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

The Ramayan TV serial by Ramanand Sagar was also telecast in Thailand over National Television Channel 3 between August 1988 till June 1989 . The serial was dubbed in Thai Language and had the rating in top 10 through out the period.It was brought to Thailand by Ajay Pawa 171.100.50.125 (talk) 14:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Ramayan is one of the biggest TV shows created in India. Audience e very curious about where they shot this show. Which are the locations of shooting. This show is basedOn which version of ramayan. Beacuse at starting of the show they show us this show is based on Tulsidas's Ramayan, Valmiki Ramayan, Tamil, Telugu Ramayan. But no one mentioned it in production section. Any one reading this please add this info with reliable Citations and research. Also no one written anything about shooting locations of this show. I heard on News nation news channel Aruna Govil said this show was entirely shot at Vrundavan studios. Which is present in Umargav, Gujrat. Suggest to mention dubbed version of Ramayan (1987) in Tamil, Telugu languages.

Most watched entertainment programme

I've got a couple of issues with the recent edits adding that this was the most watched entertainment programme. First and foremost, the sources are pretty specific that the source of the claim is a tweet from the broadcaster. That wasn't mentioned in the edits and it's a vital attribution that the sources are making. Not including that is deceptive. Second, it's factually wrong. The final episode of MASH, Goodbye,_Farewell_and_Amen had over 100 million viewers. The made for television film The Day After was over 100 million viewers. I won't cover the many sports events that easily beat this show as well. Sources aren't perfect, and in this case, they are relying on the broadcaster's tweet as their attributed source of information. How to handle this? Ravensfire (talk) 15:27, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Who Done It (Dallas) notes that in the US it had 83-90 million viewers in the US (higher number) and 360 million international viewers in more than 57 countries (VASTLY higher number). Yes, the sources say that DD National made the claim. It's also patently obvious this is an unresearched and bogus claim from the broadcaster. Ravensfire (talk) 15:47, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

The same way as we handle WP:PRIMARY - attribute to DD National. I'd suggest removing the "world record" since it's not from an independent secondary source but saying, "acc. to DD, the show had 7.7 cr viewers in the re-broadcast" — DaxServer (t · m · c) 17:09, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
