COI

edit

In accordance with Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, I have chosen to disclose that I have a personal connection to this subject. I will spare details, but my main purpose in writing this article is to benefit Wikipedia and its mission. I believe this list is written from a neutral perspective (the content is pretty non-controversial) and has been constructed from independent, reliable sources. The second link above provides the following summary, which I believe I have followed appropriately:

  • Be transparent about your conflict of interest (  Done)
  • Subjects require significant coverage in independent reliable sources. (  Done)
  • Your role is to inform and reference, not promote or sell. (  Done)
  • Be extremely cautious about the risks of editing articles about yourself or your clients (  Done|N/A)
  • If writing a draft, write without bias, as if you don't work for the company or personally know the subject. (  Done)
  • State facts and statistics, don't be vague or general. (  Done)
  • Take time to get sources and policy right. (  Done)
  • Get neutral, uninvolved, disinterested editors to review your draft. (  Doing...)
  • Work with the community and we'll work with you. (  Done)
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate. (  Done)

My goal is to have this article promoted to Good article status, eventually. I understand this will require review and assistance from other members of the community, which is great. I invite all to examine this list carefully to make sure the content is fair and accurate. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:44, 17 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Update: Requested a copy edit from the Guild of Copy Editors. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:13, 3 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Listing your specific COI would be helpful, as you wrote the majority of the article. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 07:40, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I know Ray King and have worked for Top Level Design. As I said over at Talk:Top Level Design, we first met at local Wikipedia meetups and some other Wikipedians know him, too. I thought I was doing right by disclosing my COI here but you're welcome to change template or modify text as you see fit. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:15, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
So you are a paid contributor then? Should not the COI be listed as per Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure? KeepItGoingForward (talk) 06:32, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KeepItGoingForward I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying the template should be Template:Connected contributor (paid)? ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:30, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
As per the page already linked, "Paid editors are required by the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use to disclose their employer, client and affiliation with respect to edits for which they are compensated. The employer is the person or organization paying for the edits, such as a PR company. The client is on whose behalf the edits are made; this is often the subject of the article. When employer and client are identical, simply supply the employer." It sounds as if you were a paid editor, so the disclosure statement is required. @KeepItGoingForward I've adjusted the template above. I'll do the same at Talk:Top Level Design and Talk:.design and Talk:.gay and Talk:.wiki. I hope this addresses your concern. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:35, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KeepItGoingForward: Since you're happy with the Talk page templates now, can you remove the "close connection" tag? ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:03, 8 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for removing the tag, Equine-man. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:12, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

COI tag (January 2023)

edit

Creator and main editor disclose COI for this page and the Top Level Design page (also connected to Ray King), but do not disclose the nature of their COI. Also tried to "archive" their COI in the talk page. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 07:50, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@KeepItGoingForward I archived my comment because I thought the COI template at the top of this page was sufficient. Editors are welcome to identify non-neutral or otherwise problematic content. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:22, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
User:Equine-man and User:KeepItGoingForward, I see someone has added back a COI tag. Are either of you comfortable removing (again)? ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:47, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely, we already had the discussion, came to a solution with the tags up on the talk pages. I believe that fits with the policies and you have acted in good faith. KeepItGoingForward (talk) 05:10, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@KeepItGoingForward Thank you. ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:14, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
