Worthless article
Reliance is the biggest private sector company in India, they have a history of violating government rules, bribery, unethical practices, utilization of monopoly etc., and there is no information of all this in article. Instead, it looks like an advertisement. Sucks!!!--Jahilia 13:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

It's just an ad
"Reliance Industry is the world's largest polyester producer and as a result one of the largest producers of polyester waste in the world. In order to deal with this large amount of waste, they had to create a way to recycle the waste. They operate the largest polyester recycling center that uses the polyester waste as a filling and stuffing. They developed an innovative recycling process resulting in an award in 'Team Excellence'."
Obviously, this is all completely factual and unbiased information.
This is a poorly-concealed advertisement written by a poor English speaker. Not a Reliance employee, no not at all. No way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.92.24.212 (talk) 09:47, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
Removal of Section ' Stocks'
Dear Fellow Editors of the Page. We need an opinion to make some changes to the page. There is a section called 'Stocks' in the Page. I believe the daily changes in the stock of the company does not fit the bill of encyclopedic content. Then we need to add the every day changes since it was listed in BSE way back in 1980s. Please comment and add your opinions here. Regards, Mananshah15 (talk) 08:45, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- I would definitely agree with Mananshah15. Stock of a company does not need to be highlighted upon. There are many public listed companies that have seen a fluctuation in stock prices over time, so whenever these is such a drop or gain due to external factors, it need not be put up on Wikipedia as a separate sub-section.
MuzzammilB (talk) 08:52, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- thanks a lot User:MuzzammilB. I also believe we need to remove the controversies section since the matter about CAG is Subjudice what your thought on the same.???
Mananshah15 (talk) 12:24, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- @Mananshah15 The sub-section not only is trying to show negative sentiment on a Company Profile page on Wikipedia but it also does not adhere to the NPOV rules of Wikipedia. We should ideally remove that section also

Merge proposals
After cleaning out the articles Reliance Solar and Reliance Logistics of all promo, puffery and advertising, those articles don't warrant a separate article any more. Discussion can take place at the mention articles. The Banner talk 12:57, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
Both Reliance Solar and Reliance Logistics are very small articles, hence they can be merged with main article on parent company (Reliance Industries).

What about Reliance Retail? Reliance Retail had an annual revenue of Rs. 10,800 crores in financial year 2012-13. It is the largest retailer in India. It warrants a separate article, if good content is available. Please advice.GSwarnkar 12:31, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Post the cleaning, both articles are small in size and do not provide detailed information on respective companies. For more than 3 weeks, there has been no "opposition" to merger proposal. Since there has been no discussion on maintaining these articles, this discussion can be closed with assumption that everyone agrees to merger proposal. GSwarnkar 01:15, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Issues fixed
- self-published sources and Unreliable sources
(1) There was an issue raised at the start of Aug-13 that this article was giving improper or self published sources:
This article may contain improper references to self-published sources. (August 2013)
(2) Similarly, there was an issue raised in June 2013, wherein it was raised that the article's references may not be reliable: Some or all of this article's listed sources may not be reliable. (June 2013)
Fix:
I have added a lot of third party references to fix the above two issues.
For some data, first party references are used, which is acceptable, if the reliable publisher is only the company itself. By first party reference, I mean the reports issued by the company itself, like Annual report, Notes on AGM, Shareholding information, Subsidiary information and Management profiles. First party references would also include the introduction given by the company on the services/products on its website. For example, Annual revenue, profits, shareholding, employee strength etc. are taken from Annual report of the company. Similarly, attrition data is taken from Sustainability report of the company.
For other data, newspaper articles and history from reliable websites like Times of India, Economic Times, The Hindu, Financial Express, NDTV, Business Standard, etc. have been used.

- overly promotional
An issue was raised in start of Jul-13 that this article was "overly promotional":
This article may require copy editing for overly promotional. You can assist by editing it. (July 2013)
The issue seemed correct to me as the language used for describing the business divisions of the company were promotional in nature. The language was not neutral.
The old copy of the article dated 11-Aug-13, the time before I started editing the article (from 14-Aug-2013), can by accessed here [11 August 2013]
Fixed:Now, I have, to the best extent possible from my side and with the help of published references available, removed the promotional content from this article. Language has been neutralised (NPOV). Also a separate section on Controversies surrounding the company has been inserted.
After the above changes, I am removing the "over promotional" alert from this article.
GSwarnkar 19:30, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Controversies
Inserted new section "Controversies" to include major controversies around the company.
First one being the split of Reliance group, including the split of RIL through a de-merger of 4 companies from RIL.
Requesting language neutralisation from fellow editors (NPOV).

IP reverts
While patrolling Recent changes, I noted that an IP has been blanking out large portions of text under the "controversies" section without giving any reasons in an edit summary. I attempted to fix this, but was promptly reverted by the IP. It doesn't look like there's any discussion on the talk page about this information, other than somebody noting when they added it.
I don't want to get into a revert war, so could the IP involved please provide an explanation for why they are removing this information? Valentine Westing (talk) 16:19, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Present strategic direction
As of July 2020, Reliance Industries has embarked on a series of significant partnerships for the equity sales to the partners, to available the funds and to forster deeper relations for launching new platforms, products, services and revenue models, with the view to expedite its revenue and profit growth by focusing on mainly digital and retail as new hypergrowth engines to become one of the top company in the world to competing with rivals such as Walmat, Tencents, Huawei and Xiaomi.[1][2]
Jio Platforms targets a billion Indians with mobile devices and data plans to shop online and RIL untends to disrupt retail, content streaming, digital payments, education and health care. RIL sold 33% of his digital venture over last 3 months to big global partners such as Facebook and Google which riased the valuation of Jio Platforms Ltd to $58 billion. RIl and google will build anew version of andriod operating system for more affordable 4G/5G smartphones. In 2020, Google invested $4.5 billion in RIL's Jio Platform for a 7.7% stake. Jio Meeting app is aimed at becoming app of choice for communication and for running virtual meetings, presentations and classrooms which will also be augmented by the recent launch of Jio Glass which augments 3D holographic virtual reality to meetings, gaming and apps through Jio Mixed Reality real-time cloud.RIL will also offer broadband for enterprises and small businesses and narrowband Internet-of-Things (NBIoT). it will also offer all-in-one 5G mega streaming platform which will combine offerings of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar and other TV channels. RIL is using a technology for 5G which it developed inhouse and it will pit it against Huawei and likel to be offered globally to other naitons who are conerned about China-origin Huawei regarding the national security, data privacy and geostrategic spying.[1][2]
JioMart, another hypergrowth engine of RIL is an online shopping portal integrated with WhatsApp through partnership and stakes sales to facebook, will bring millions of small neighbourhood retailers and direct suppliers with billions of customers with payments enabled via whatsapp. In March 2020, Reliance Retail had 1.63 trillion rupees (US$22 billion) with 12,000 stores across 7,000 towns. This strategy pts RIL against e-commerce rivals such as Amazon and Walmart.[1] [2]

- This text is far too promotional. I also don't think we need to mention their strategic direction, we can just summarize elsewhere in the article what types of investments they have done. – Thjarkur (talk) 17:58, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, it needs to be toned down a bit to be more encyclopedic in nature. But otherwise I believe that the content is important to include given the change in company revenues as of late. It is no longer just a refining company and the page needs to reflect that. The draft needs a lot of changes however, Keep at it. Debitpixie 💬 18:20, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Article cleanup
Article is in need of copy editing and cleanup to remove promotional material and material sourced to primary sources that needs a secondary source.
I have started the process by tagging primary sources. Tags should only be removed when the issue is resolved. // Timothy :: talk 08:54, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
Bruh- Why do we need to remove primary sources? Reliance is a public company. The only authoritative source of their revenues, profits and employees are the primary sources that they submit to the securities regulator and to stock exchanges. The 'primary' source that does no have conflict of interest would be the 'audited' financial results. There should be no blanket ban on citing primary sources. They are not being promotional. As a public company they HAVE TO inform investors of their strategic direction. I am a lawyer qualified in India. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.67.89.168 (talk) 05:59, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
