Akai products badged Roberts were actually handled by Rheem subsidiary

edit

There were Akai machines badged Roberts in the US as mentioned in [[1]] and [[2]] but they should be mentioned here as well. See external cite here about halfway down the page.

Source: My grandfather worked for Rheem for over 25 years, was the VP and General Manager of the Califone/Roberts Electronics Division and was Saburo Akai's point of contact with Rheem Califone Roberts at the time of his death in 1968. I have a hardcopy company directory of Rheem Manufacturing from 1968 in my possession that can be used as a print reference. Though the negotiations to add a Japanese office were still underway in 1968 and that page in the section for affiliated and subsidiary companies and offices abroad is thus left blank in the 1968 directory, the Califone-Roberts Division directory page would be useful as it is relevant to the rebadging. Also it would be helpful for filling out the list of historical facilities, which seems incomplete on comparison. Should this document be scanned and uploaded to Archive.org for others to access, or is the existence of a hardcopy enough? (I am unsure about posting it online as it contains personal contact information that may still be accurate for some of the company officers or their families, even if they are long since retired or deceased.) I have my editor notifications set to notify daily so I will see any responses in a timely manner. I haven't been active on Wiki for some years, and thus I am hesitant to edit articles myself, but I recently had this document come into my possession and thought it might be of some historical interest.

I will be adding a similar but appropriately edited note to the other two wiki pages linked above as well.

John Wood brand

edit

The statement that Rheem acquired John Wood is in apparent contradiction with the A.O. Smith page, which states that that company owns the John Wood brand. Wikimikef (talk) 00:49, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
