Thank you for your input - WikiProject Musicians.

I challenge and stand by what i research that Ronald Savage was the first known person with a real name that people can talk to read about, ect to claim that Bambaataa molested him, every reported media states this. [6][not in citation given], Street sting (talk) 19:25, 5 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I challenge and stand by what i research that Ronald Savage worked with the group Snap stated in his book he spoke about on the radio and on www. allhiphop.com which is in my ref. [3][not in citation given] and in the bronx times ref. Street sting (talk) 19:28, 5 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

The "not in citation given" doesn't mean it isn't true, it means that after reading the source that you provided for the information, I could not verify it. This is an important part of Wikipedia. If you had read the links I have given you on my talk page you would understand that. -- GB fan 21:08, 5 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please help by making this better if you see anything you can fix or add to in respect to ref's by this living hero.Street sting (talk) 16:49, 7 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ronald Savage from resources states he is the trademark owner of Hip Hop Movement reg in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, here is the link http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4810:2rvwod.3.2 which there are two trademarks reg under him for Hip Hop Movement, this needs to be added to his wiki Bio and this changes the game for hip hop being that Hip Hop Movement is reg as a trademark under Ronald Savage, I just found this out today, this is crazy.Street sting (talk) 02:43, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Citation needed tags

edit

Question: why does it say in the first paragraph that he is a hip hop artist but (as far as I can tell) there is no mention in the the article of him being a hip hop artist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.241.224.166 (talk) 01:17, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I had placed some citation needed tags on some statements in the article that are not sourced. The creator of the article keeps removing them without adding inline citations for the statements. They suggest in an edit summary that somewhere in the long list of references that are at the bottom of the article there are sources that verify the statements. They need to have inline citations our the statements need to go away. -- GB fan 21:54, 8 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

those inlines were placed on your citations which you didnt read the refs but it's ok, i placed the inline just for the sake of argument .Street sting (talk) 22:04, 8 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

no it wasn't just for the sake of argument, that is the way Wikipedia articles are done. We add inline citations on anything that it's our may be challenged. You want the information, you need to provide inline citations if someone asks for them. -- GB fan 01:39, 9 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank You GB Fan - you have turned out to be a friend and a great help, I publicly say thank you for helping me to fix the article on this man.Street sting (talk) 05:32, 10 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Trademark

edit

The basic fact that he owns a trademark keeps getting added into the article. My question is so what? What is the significance of him owning the trademark? What is being added does not say anything other than he owns a trademark. ~ GB fan 00:50, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have removed it again. I realized also that this statement of ownership was in the lead. If we get anything that says it is significant that he owns the trademark, it would need to go in the body of the article not the lead. ~ GB fan 14:32, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Some places to look for comments from the other side in the dispute since they haven't commented here.

3O Response: I concur with GB fan. I don't see any particularly compelling reason why this statement about the Hip Hop Movement should belong in the lead. MOS:LEAD says that the lead should identify the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points and that the emphasis given to material in the lead should roughly reflect its importance to the topic, according to reliable, published sources. Ownership of the Hip Hop Movement does not appear to be one of the most important points about the subject, and the online sourcing for this fact is weak at best. These two points militate against including this fact in the lead section. /wiae /tlk 17:03, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I am willing to work with you all and agree it can be placed somewhere other then the lead. If someone can place it were you think it should go I am all for it. Street sting (talk) 20:08, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

What is significant about him owning the trademark? ~ GB fan 20:26, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I removed the answer to the question and deleted it from sight because it was a cut and paste from other sources. ~ GB fan 23:50, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Let me try this a different way. Are there any independent reliable sources that discuss his owning the trademark and say that it is significant that he owns it? If there are we would need to summarize those sources and then write about the significance of his owning the trademark, not just stating the simple fact that he owns it. ~ GB fan 23:54, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The only thing that i can find is interviews maybe the youtube interview by BET's SWAY IN THE MORNING. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6Xz50h-u78

independent reliable source enspireusall WHICH IS A GREAT REF http://enspireusall.com/2017/05/17/hip-hop-pioneers-ronald-savage-and-busy-bee-acquire-use-of-the-trademark-for-the-hip-hop-movement/#.WvItHYgvzmY 2604:2000:DE9D:8500:CDAD:3CD:805E:1460 (talk) 00:11, 9 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

is it ok for me to put it in the page but not in the lead it adds to his story 2604:2000:DE9D:8500:CDAD:3CD:805E:1460 (talk) 09:26, 9 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Re: Recent edits

edit

@Street sting:, in regards to our recent changes:

  • I removed the discography because it is referenced to Amazon.com – retailers are generally discouraged from being used as sources (WP:NOTRSMUSIC), and it does not appear Savage's music has been covered by any third-party sources (for example, this Google search for "Hip Hop Movement Anthem"), which brings to question the notability of its inclusion.
  • I revised the molestation statement in order to clarify who was being referred to as being the age of 15, because the previous wording could have been read as either Bambaataa or Savage.
  • I removed the sentence stating Savage had "fought to help change statute of limitation laws", because this could not be verified in the New York Daily News source cited alongside it.

Contrary to your recent statements, there are valid and encyclopedic reasons behind my changes to articles of your interest. Please click on some of the blue links above so you can learn about how this site is meant to work. Thanks. Piotr Jr. (talk) 14:39, 24 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Re: Recent edits to CVA

edit

Piotr Jr. thank you for your recent edit of the child victims act, just one thing but i need to find that Daily news article, the CVA did pass in New York State, I'm going to try to find it on the internet and write something up and feel free to make changes if need me, I see we can work together if we both come together to work this all out, i am open to, and I'm trying to put something new on hip hop movement, it's hard because I know this man trademarked it and has changed things up on the hip hop movement so i don't want to offend a person's brand, but what i am looking at doing is build it from the beginning leading up to what the hip hop movement is now, I do know he is giving out desist and deceased orders if his name is not mentioned I read that. You can look at the links of hip hop movement and the 6 elements of hip hop movement to get a feel of it, or even look at busy bee on sway in the morning that link is there as well.

Piotr I'm gonna write something longer on the six elements of the hip hop movement, I guess that is what you was meaning and we can replace it back in hip hop where it was all these years because it is a big part of the culture and if you know hip hop culture you would already know this, I want to call peace. --Street sting (talk) 18:38, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

OK I found it on CNN CVA passed, let me look over this stuff and may write that into the Ronald Savage article later today or tomorrow, here are the links just in case you want to write it, it doesn't make a difference who does :)

Hi, just saw this. Regarding the "hip hop movement" article, I would strongly advise you research this subject in undeniably reliable sources like academic and scholarly work, as well as expert book publications and online magazines/websites with an experienced staff and reputation. This still feels to me like a fringe concept, but if you are determined to push this article into existence, finding sources via Google Scholar, Google Books, and Google News would give you your best chance. Piotr Jr. (talk) 19:04, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Piotr- Thank you for adding the CVA was passed, that was cool coming home and seeing that. OK so with the hip hop movement how you think it should start, I started from Disco king Mario playing at JHS 123, see hip hop movement is every tricky because it started out along with hip hop until this guy ronald savage in 1990 coin the elements and then trademark the name, so i was thinking maybe we can start off with the beginning of the movement when people wanted to be apart of this thing called hip hop movement and then end it with this guy and busy bee turning it into a brand that is as accurate as we can get, I have your links and i have the articles I found, so let's rock this, the article is at Draft:Hip Hop Movement. Thank you soooooooo much, You made me this happiest person in the world, thank you --Street sting (talk) 00:00, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Piotr Jr please can you undo what you done on hip hop with repect to the sex elements of the hip hop movement and ron "bee-stinger" savage picture please man it's been there for 6 years, I ask humbly and it's gonna take a while to put a new hip hop movement article together, please out of respect for all the years it been there and to also give this man his respect he been though a lot. Please can you do the reight thing and undo what you did please, I want to begain with this hip hop movement thats hard enough and we all know ronald savage gave real meaning to hip hop movement having elements and meaning, it's not like it's new it's fact and it been there 5 years i beleave going on 6 years. Please. --Street sting (talk) 00:20, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Poorly Sourced Material

edit

This material is irrelevant, not independently corroborated and boastful. None of the links cited contain this information except for Savage's out-of-date personal website. Street Sting, the author of this page, is clearly Ronald Savage and therefore a clear conflict with Wiki standards. Removing the passage below.

"In 1990, while working with the rap pop group Snap!, Savage carved the term six elements of the hip hop movement. These six elements are: consciousness awareness, civil rights awareness, activism awareness, justice, political awareness, community awareness." Editing War - Page Deletion

edit

User Street Sting is engaged in an editing war. The overzealous deletion of factual information with cited sources is against policy. Street Sting appears to be Ronald Savage himself and this page should be deleted for the obvious conflict of interest. If Street Sting is not Savage, he is too close to the subject, also against policy. HipHop4thEstate (talk) 13:00, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
