- There are two people with the Roopa/Rupa Ganguly. Rupa Ganguly is Ashok Kumar's older daughter who was Deven Verma's wife. Roopa Ganguly is a separate person, not related to the Ashok Kumar family, and acted in the Serial Mahabharat as Draupadi. Currently, a link in Ashok Kumar's page for Rupa Ganguly lands on the page which is a simple redirect to that of Roopa Ganguly. That is not correct. I had removed the redirect and documented the reason. Please check before you revert the edit. Bmurthy (talk) 16:28, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Confusion here and confusion there
Both the spellings are being used by different reliable sources. The opinions of the references we have added in the article are also divided.
- Times of India
- See the 2007 article where they have used the spelling "Rupa Ganguly" (i.e. current spelling)
- Here is a 2010 article from the same newspaper where are using the spelling "Roopa Ganguly" (i.e. requested spelling)
The condition is more or less same in all newspapers and reliable sources.
- Telegraph, Calcutta edition
- A 2005 article where they are using the spelling "Rupa Ganguly" (i.e. current spelling)
- A 2012 article where they are using the spelling "Roopa Ganguly" (the requested spelling)
I am not sure if the subject changed her name's spelling recently for some numerology etc in recent years since in the both references above the older articles are using the current spelling (i.e. "Rupa Ganguly")
And the situation gets worse when we find a third spelling "Rupa Ganguli" in her college website page.
- Still requesting move
I am still requesting move depending on subject's personal website (this spelling is supported by reliable sources too).
Best
