The use of [sic] in his comment indicates he was being sarcastic.
Who ever made the assumption that he supported Trump in 2016 is wrong. 72.9.14.125 (talk) 13:50, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'd need to see evidence for that claim. 2A0A:EF40:136D:2601:C12:A035:14EF:2D84 (talk) 22:08, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
He didn't use (sic) himself at all Spindot (talk) 22:50, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Incorrect. The use of "sic" means that the anomaly in the quote was not a mistake in the quoting, but appeared "thus" in the original statement. Therefore in this example it is clear that Routh made a typo, and therefore that he did support Trump in 2016, which is consistent with other reports. 2A0A:EF40:113:6E01:E9EF:9920:8B56:6D7B (talk) 11:57, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah. The typo is "2106" instead of "2016" 2603:6011:A600:84B1:6FF1:54AA:3C8E:D31 (talk) 2603:6011:A600:84B1:6FF1:54AA:3C8E:D31 (talk) 02:29, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Can you name someone who attempted or succeeded in assassinating a US President who doesn't have Wikipedia page? Yilloslime (talk) 17:00, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I hate to be involved in these kinds of discussions, but I'm obliged to answer: Michael Steven Sandford. :) Sir MemeGod :D (talk - contribs - created articles) 18:32, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Michael Steven did not try to assassinate Trump 88.207.128.7 (talk) 20:09, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

How to pronounce suspect's last name

edit

The last name of the suspected gunman is apparently Routh. How does someone with a General American accent pronounce Routh? Like Ruth? Or like "Rowth" (where the "th" would be pronounced like it is in "breath", not like it is in "breathe")? Ss0jse (talk) 19:05, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

ruh-ow-th
(ow as in the word ow). Matthew4100002 (talk) 17:24, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Lead sentence

edit

Per WP:BLPCRIME, the lead sentence should be changed as soon as possible. The article about the incident does not definitively describe it as an assassination attempt anyway. –Gluonz talk contribs 16:43, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
