Is research paper considered proper source?

edit

Hello, to those who have kept a watch on this page, Is a scholarly research paper considered a valid source in caste articles? Please, let me know. Thank you. Regards Chanchaldm (talk) 12:19, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please avoid research papers in caste articles; actually it's more about the reliability of the author in that case, and is subjective. It is always recommended that scholarly texts by reliable authors / publishers are best as far as caste articles are concerned. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 12:46, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Even eminent scholars have different opinions on same topic. There can always be subjectivity in topics like these. I have a PDF of around 10 pages , most probably part of a published book by Springer. But I am unable to find the book to cite in the article.I will add the content after I find it. Thanks. Ekdalian Chanchaldm Sadgops are general or OBC?? they are mentioned as OBC here Nobita456 (talk) 10:15, 24 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hey Nobita456, my understanding is Goala, Pallav Gope, Ballav Gope, Yadav Gope, Ahir and Yadav are mentioned as OBC in the given source, not Sadgop. Ekdalian (talk) 10:30, 24 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Nobita456 Don't remove sourced content.Sadgops aren't OBC, but as per the source Sadgop, gop, yadav etc. are related. Thank you. Chanchaldm (talk) 15:49, 24 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

History, origin, varna

edit

Dear IP editors, please note, all non-brahmin castes in Bengal traditionally considered Shudras. Sat-shudra is a good status as compared to asat-shudra and antyaja. Sadgops' claim of being kshatriya and even belief of being descended from Lord Krishna (though this belief can't be considered history , origin or varna) are included. Sanyal is a modern and reliable source. Citing the same I have incorporated their new gain Nabasakh rank, which they achieved by separating themselves from parent caste Gop or Goala and claiming higher social status. Sanyal and few other sources have much more information regarding Sadgop, which I will add, when I will have time, and make this article much better. In the meantime, please stop all of your disruptive editing. Regards, Chanchaldm (talk) 04:02, 13 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
