- Wrong Samantha Fox - that's the other one (the British model/singer). Tabercil (talk) 23:25, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
(actress)/(pornographic actress) RfC
An RfC which may affect this article's title is currently taking place (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pornography#RfC: Should a person who has appeared in exclusively pornographic films be described as "(actor/-tress)" or "(pornographic actor/-tress)"?). Rebecca1990 (talk) 07:09, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Dismissed case
I've deleted the material that was in the article about an indictment for a "crime". The charges were dismissed by the court that ruled that the prosecutor was over-reaching and that the facts alleged did not constitute a crime. Under these circumstances, it's impossible to square inclusion of this material with WP:BLPCRIME. Please do not reinsert. If you think I'm wrong, let's discuss. Please type your rationale here and ping me. Thanks. David in DC (talk) 14:46, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

- Thanks. IAFD is not a reliable source. It's the IMDB of adult films and WikiProject Porn eventually decided it's not reliable. Missvain (talk) 19:29, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

PAGE) 17:02, 23 September 2021 (UTC) - You'll be waiting a while, they're blocked for 6 months. I don't see any other "Samantha Fox" actresses, and Samantha Fox is about an English actress. One half of me wants to say we need the nationality, the other doesn't. Given the significant gap in pageviews in favor of Samantha Fox, our readers might benefit from the nationality being there. I'm sure there's a policy out there I'm forgetting about. ASUKITE 19:10, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- It seems like this needs discussion, at a minimum, since Samantha Fox is also arguably an actress, having had roles in three films and a television sitcom. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:01, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. There are two actresses named Samantha Fox, one of whom is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, thus making the form "Samantha Fox (actress)" incomplete disambiguation that should redirect to the primary topic. Anyone searching for either of the two performers is expected to type "Samantha Fox" and, upon reaching the primary topic, who is English, spot the hatnote which currently states, For the American pornographic actress, see Samantha Fox (actress). That hatnote should more-intuitively state, For the pornographic actress, see Samantha Fox (American actress). —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:26, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:INCOMPLETEDAB. The title needs disambiguation anyway, and both women are arguably actresses. Samantha Fox has had roles in three films and a television sitcom. I see no benefit in using a more ambiguous title or in trying to figure out whether one of them is the "primary actress named Samantha Fox". I suggest that Samantha Fox (actress) should redirect to Samantha Fox (disambiguation). — BarrelProof (talk) 00:31, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose as is, but create DAB at Samantha Fox (disambiguation) and redirect Samantha Fox (actress) there as per User:BarrelProof.--Ortizesp (talk) 15:02, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
- I have created the disambiguation page. — BarrelProof (talk) 17:17, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
- Support per nom and WP:CONCISE. Samantha Fox is the primary topic and is not primarily known as an actress. So why would anyone be searching for her at "Samantha Fox (actress)" when they can find her directly at Samantha Fox? At most, all we need is a hatnote on the American for the one person in a million getting lost. Station1 (talk) 05:13, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
- So should we move Michael Jackson (English singer) to Michael Jackson (singer) based on the idea that no one would search using that form when they can find the more well known topic directly at Michael Jackson? — BarrelProof (talk) 17:26, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- Every case is different, which is why each needs to be examined individually. In the case of Michael Jackson, he is primarily known as a singer, whereas Samantha Fox is not primarily known as an actress. Even so, Michael Jackson (singer) averages only 2 hits per day, while Michael Jackson (English singer) averages 8 and Michael Jackson gets tens of thousands.[1] So can we say those two readers per day are mostly looking for the English singer? No, it's at least as likely they're looking for the famous one, so we should not move it. Station1 (talk) 00:54, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose two actresses. We absolutely do not do partial disambiguation except for cases where a local consensus of editors are making an issue of it. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:02, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose the the infobox of the English one it notes one of the occupations being an actress. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:06, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- Support. Given there's no way Samantha Fox could be described as an actress I see no problem here. She's only known as a glamour model and a singer. Appearing in a couple of shows and adverts, essentially as herself, does not make her an actress. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:56, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
