Former good article nomineeSamuel L. M. Barlow I was a Social sciences and society good articles nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

Alright I will be picking up the review of this one - both for the Wiki Cup and the GA cup as well.

Side note, I would love some input on a Featured List candidate (Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship) and a Featured Article candidate (CMLL World Heavyweight Championship). I am not asking for Quid pro Quo, but all help is appreciated.  MPJ-US  01:07, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I like to get this checked out first, I have found issues using this that has led to quick fails so it's important this passes muster.

  • "born on January 5, 1826" should have a comma after the year
  • "firm, Melett & Gregg in" should be "firm, Melett & Gregg, in" (is the "&" part of the offical name or should it be "and"?)
  • "later made manager of" - "the manager"?
  • "an conciliator" should be "a conciliator"
  • "the Erie Railroad," does not need the comma

  • Do you have page reference for the Brown & Johnson reference?
  • Date uses "July 11, 1889" but the accessdate uses "29 August 2015", all date formats should be the same.

Broad in coverage

  • Hard to say yes to this considering how short this article is.

  • None at all. With Barlow being dead for over 100 years I think a good case can be made for a fair use claim. I think it would help.
  • Actually now that I think of it, he's been dead for over 100 years the pictures are probably under Public Domain now.  MPJ-US  00:26, 13 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

General

  • The article is rather short, making it hard to fullfill the WP:WIAFA critera 1(b) "Comprehensive. Is there anything at all that can be added?
MPJ-DK, be sure to review a GAN on WP:WIAGA, not WIAFA. "Broad in its coverage" is considerably less rigorous (see Note 7 on the criteria page). Prhartcom (talk) 22:30, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
That is a good catch, I have been working on FL and FA work for my own articles and consulted that list so many times they kinda blend together. Thank you and thank you for your guidance on my question.  MPJ-US  00:04, 13 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

So a quick google search brought up a multitude of results, between them there is a lot more info than there is currently in this article. I would encourage you to look through these and see what you can pull from it. I believe all the sources listed would be considered reliable sources.

And this is just from a quick Google search, not actual research.  MPJ-US  00:19, 13 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • User:Ceradon - I have provided what input I could on the article itself, but a quick search does show that there is more information available that could be included in the Wikia biography to paint a fuller picture. I am going to put this on hold for now, 7 days to allow work to take place. If improvements are still going in in 7 days I'll be happy to keep it open to allow for those to be completed.  MPJ-US  01:16, 13 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • @Ceradon: - Just a reminder, one day left. If there is no activity by tomorrow I will be forced to close the GA review due to inactivity. If you start now and need more time that's cool, just let me know.  MPJ-US  00:40, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
