editSavalgi is a village in the state of Karnataka, India. It is situated in Jamkhandi Taluk of Bagalkot District and is well connected to other parts of the state by road. Savalgi has a beautiful temples. Those are temple Lord Shivalingeshwara, goddess KALIKA, Baram devar, Vittal mandira, Someshwar, and Hanuman mandira. Former Vice Presiedent of India Shri Basappa Danappa Jatti was born here.
The proposed Jamkhandi-Jatt Highway via Jambagi Bridge, will put Savalgi on the small Highway Route. The population of Savalgi is estimated to be around 30,000.
Savalgi is situated just 9 kilometeres from River Krishna. With the commissioning of Almattai and Hipparagi Dams, water resources are getting well trapped and Savalgi is becoming a potential irrigated Hub Area with the main crops being sugar cane, cotton, wheat, spices, grapes, and many food grains.
Near Savalgi there are already 3 sugar mills (Shree Renuka Sugars, Jamkhandi Sugar Mills and Prabhulingeshwar Sugar functioning)
But one sad thing is that still Savalgi is not be a Taluka. Peoples of Savalgi were tried to do same because Savalgi has eligible to get a chance. This village is centre place to all villages like Adihudi, Tungal, Jambagi(KD and BK), Kannoli etc.
