Proposed changes

edit

In the introductory paragraph, can we:

1.Change “…is an interdisciplinary medical journal…” to “…is an interdisciplinary biomedical journal…”

2.Update the beginning of the second sentence to “It publishes biomedical, translational…”

3.Swap “on human diseases” to “about human diseases” in the second sentence.

In the references, can the following change be made?

4.The reference to the master Journal List is outdated and can be replaced with https://mjl.clarivate.com/home , as Clarivate acquired TR’s intellectual property division a few years ago.

Done Not sure what you mean by "master journal list". PK650 (talk) 04:57, 16 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
The list I'm referring to is the posted list of journals indexed in Web of Science/Science Citation Index, which currently lives here - https://mjl.clarivate.com/home. The link currently listed in reference 6 is dead, as this service (the list) is now owned and hosted by Clarivate. Would it be possible to update the reference to point to the new link? Additional Proposed Changes

edit

Hello!

We have some additional edit requests, listed below. Please let me know if I can provide rationale, additional information, etc.!

Bolded text indicates additions/edits to text.

---

Summary

  1. Request: Could we add the following sentence after the second sentence in the “Summary” section? “The journal is part of the Science Family of Journals, of which Holden Thorp is the Editor-in-Chief.
  2. Reason: For context -The Science journals have an overall Editor in Chief (Holden Thorp), but each journal is then managed by individual Editors who we prefer not to list.
  3. Link: https://www.science.org/content/page/leadership-and-management#HoldenThorp

  1. Request: Please update the Impact Factor to the 2022 number and associated reference: “According to Web of Science, the journal has a 2022 impact factor of 17.1
  2. Reason: The current number is outdated.
  3. Link: https://jcr.clarivate.com/jcr-jp/journal-profile?journal=SCI%20TRANSL%20MED&year=2022&fromPage=%2Fjcr%2Fbrowse-journals

Scope

  1. Request: Would it be possible to add a section directly below the article summary, called “Scope”? If so, please move the scope sentence (“It publishes….about human diseases”) to this section.
  2. Reason: We’re aiming to have the structure of the pages as consistent as possible across the journals.

  1. Request: If a “Scope” section is possible, please update the “Scope” text to: "This biomedical journal publishes preclinical, translational, and clinical research associated with human diseases. Examples of topics covered include cancer, cardiovascular disease, vaccines, infectious diseases, metabolism, diabetes, obesity, neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases, bioengineering, regenerative medicine, imaging, and drug discovery and development."
  2. Reason: This more accurately reflects the journal's scope.
  3. Link: https://www.science.org/content/page/stm-mission-and-scope

See Also

  1. Request: Could a “See Also” section be added, with the following links?

AAAS Publications (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Association_for_the_Advancement_of_Science#Publications)

Science (Journal) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_(journal))

List of Scientific Journals (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scientific_journals)

  1. Reason: We are trying to standardize this across journal pages.

Right Rail

  1. Request: Would it be possible to add a cover image to the right rail? We can provide a higher-resolution image, if so.

  1. Request: Please add the journal’s CODEN: STMBQ
  2. Reason: We are trying to standardize the set of information that appears for each journal in the right rail.

  1. Request: Please add the journal's LCCN: 2009202157
  2. Reason: We are trying to standardize the set of information that appears for each journal in the right rail.
  3. Link:https://catalog.loc.gov/vwebv/holdingsInfo?searchId=21287&recCount=25&recPointer=0&bibId=15599579

  1. Request: Please add the journal's OCLC number: 299577228
  2. Reason: We are trying to standardize the set of information that appears for each journal in the right rail.

   Unable to review

  • Your edit request could not be reviewed because the provided references are not formatted correctly.[a] The citation style predominantly used by the Science Translational Medicine article is Citation Style 1 (CS1). The citation style used in the edit request consists of bare URL's.[b] Any requested edit of yours which may be implemented will need to resemble the current style already in use in the article – in this case, CS1. (See WP:CITEVAR.) In the extended section below titled Citation style, I have illustrated two examples: one showing how the edit request was submitted, and another showing how requests should be submitted in the future:
Citation style
Bare URL reference formatting:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

References

1. https://www.booksource.com
2. http://www.journalsource.com
3. http://www.websource.com

In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the Science Translational Medicine article. Using this style, the WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:

Citation Style 1 formatting:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,<ref>{{cite book|last1=Sjöblad|first1=Tristan|title=The Sun|url=http://www.booksource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=1}}</ref> while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.<ref>{{cite journal|last1=Harinath|first1=Prisha|title=Size of the Moon|journal=Science|issue=78|volume=51|url=http://www.journalsource.com|date=2020|page=46}}</ref> The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Uemura|first1=Shu|title=The Sun's Heat|url=http://www.websource.com|publisher=Academic Press|date=2020|page=2}}</ref>

Which displays as:

The Sun's diameter is 864,337 miles,[1] while the Moon's diameter is 2,159 miles.[2] The Sun's temperature is 5,778 Kelvin.[3]

  3. ^ Uemura, Shū. The Sun's Heat. Academic Press, 2020, p. 2.

In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc., all information which is lost when only the links are provided. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review.

Kindly resubmit the edit request below at your earliest convenience, taking care to ensure that it makes use of CS1. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Additionally, the COI editor is invited to disclose the nature of their COI on their talk page per WP:COIDISCLOSE. Regards,  Spintendo  22:59, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notes

  1. ^ The fault for this formatting error may have originated with the automated prompts used by the edit request template, which asks for a COI editor to "supply the URL of any references used". While the resulting omission of information would not be the fault of the requesting COI editor, it nevertheless remains their responsibility to supply the references formatted in the style used by the article.
  2. ^ The use of bare URLs as references is a style which is acceptable for use in Wikipedia. However, general practice dictates that the style already in use for an article be the one that is subsequently used for all future additions unless changed by editorial consensus.[1]

If the article you are editing is already using a particular citation style, you should follow it.
