According to Josiha Bunting III's presidential biography Ulysses S. Grant, page 134. It was Grant who was the first US president to have his annual salary raised from the original $25,000 to $50,000 in March 1873. GoodDay (talk) 18:09, 5 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
