With reference to inappropriate tag

Please do not add any irrelevant tag to this article otherwise i will have to involve administrator in this regard Maizbhandariya (talk) 13:45, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Tagging an article with maintenance tags isn't anything inappropriate. If you think, the tag has been addressed, you can remove it with a valid argument. The COI tag hasn't been addressed, and you're removing it. That's wrong. - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 14:00, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

What is to be clarified?

It says:

Shakir Ali Noorie is an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar, preacher and current President of Sunni Dawat-e-Islami, a non-political, religious institution[clarification needed] in Mumbai, India.

There is a source [1] that says that "Noorie is the President of Sunni Dawate Islami, a non-political religious organization in Mumbai, India." What is to be clarified?-- Toddy1 (talk) 18:52, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Toddy1, I am stuck in between things, whether it is a religious institution as claimed (religious institutions are like Darul Uloom Deoband, Madrasa Shahi, Moradabad) or it is an Organization as the reference states - or it is something altogether. I wasn't able to scrutiny it, and thus asked for clarification. Organisations are like Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. Conclusively the issue is, institution and organization are different entities. Primary source[2] calls Sunni Dawat e Islami a movement. How do we subject Sunni Dawat e Islami Mumbai now? - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk)

Thanks. I now understand the issue. The source says organisation.-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Has anyone checked that the citations support the text they are cited for? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Toddy1 (talkcontribs)

@Toddy1: tried a bit but couldn't verify a number of claims. All the references mostly talk about a specific ijtema, Noorie advocating female education and that's it. - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 17:42, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
This is going to take time:
Shakir Ali Noorie is an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar, preacher and current President of Sunni Dawat-e-Islami, a non-political, religious institution[clarification needed] in Mumbai, India.[1][2][3][4][5]
  1. Supports the statement
  2. Is irrelevant
  3. Is irrelevant
  4. Does not contain the word Noori so cannot support any statement in the article
  5. Says "Maulana Mohammed Shakir Ali Noorie, founder and president of Sunni Dawat-e-Islami."
  6. Says "Muhammad Shakir Ali Noori, founder of Sunni Davate Islami" and "Sunni Dawte is the largest organization of Sufi Muslims in Islamic India in which millions of workers work day and night for social upliftment. Devoted to moral education and the true message of Islam, the organization has its head office in Mumbai." But does not mention the statement it was cited for.
  • So I have removed [2][3][4] and moved [6] to the statement it supports.
He has led various religious events dedicated to Sunni Islam in India, including whole-day gathering at state and national level, including an annual gathering of Sunni Muslims in India Which occur every year in Azad Maidan in Mumbai bringing around 300,000 individuals into Mumbai.[1][2][3][4][5]
  • None of these citations seem to support this. So I have removed them

This citation may not mention the subject of the article, but it is relevant to Sunni Dawat-e-Islami, and might be useful in a section on that. [1]-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:31, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
I am wrong - Gugler does mention Shakir Ali Noori - but writes the name as "Maulānā Muhammad Shākīr ´Alī Nūrī".-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:13, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
@Toddy1: Name issue is not a big problem here in India. Some people write my name as Aquib, while some write Aaquib. It's not a big concern. Shakir Ali Nuri, Shakir Ali Noori, Shakir Ali Nuree etc or the names as Shākir Ali Nūrī or Nūree etc maybe well accepted for this. - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 14:29, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Apparently there used to be an article on Sunni Dawat-e-Islami, but it was deleted in 2015 - see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sunni Dawat-e-Islami.-- Toddy1 (talk) 08:35, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Sunni Dawate Islami

AaqibAnjum posted a failed verification tag for the following paragraph.[1] I agree with him, and have deleted the irrelevant citations.

Sunni Dawate Islami is a global, non-political and religious organization which encourages the spread of the Islamic beliefs under the discipline of the sect of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at. This movement was founded in the 1990s, with its headquarters in Mumbai and processes globally. Sunni Dawate Islami encourages several academies of contemporary and religious learning, which comprise 50 Darul Ulooms and 15 English medium schools in India, apart from the SDI Educational Centres in Bolton, UK & Mauritius.[7][8][9][2][failed verification]
  • [7] Says "More than 50,000 women gathered at Azad Maidan for the three-day annual Sunni Ijtema that began on Friday [18 November 2016]. The event is organised by Sunni Dawate Islami, a non-political organisation. The first day was reserved for women."
  • [8] Says that Ijtema "two-day event is to be held on February 9 and 10" 2019.
  • [9] Says "The three-day Annual Sunni Dawate Islami Ijtema ended Sunday" 23 October 2011.
  • [2] Says "Almost 1.5 lakh people came to listen to the scholars and participated in mass prayers on Sunday" 16 December 2012. Also says "22nd Annual International Sunni Ijtema (conference) organised by Sunni Dawat-e-Islami, an international organisation, conducted at Azad Maidan." "The three-day event witnessed participation by several Islamic scholars including ... Maulana Mohammed Shakir Ali Noorie, founder and president of Sunni Dawat-e-Islami."
