Comment on West Bengal government
editWhy aren't the spellings of the city name in the title of the article and in the body of the article the same? --pdaniell
The comment on West Bengal government "The generally disreputable state of affairs perpetuated by the West Bengal government, communist and totally corrupt has not helped matters" makes the article categorizable as NPOV disputed. 09:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Somebody should really cite the resources from where the statistic that 75% of villagers suffer from tuberculosis. As well, the language of this article needs much attention. BengalRenaissanceEccentrica 00:29, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
I think this article would be more structured if we have a short introduction first and then go on with each aspect one by one. Kinda like the Kolkata article. BengalRenaissanceEccentrica 21:59, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- I performed some cleanup in re language, but needs more work. gunslotsofguns 18:49, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
I agree - the figures relating to tuberculosis and AIDS need referencing. The language is too based in opinion and needs taming - I'll take a look at it when I have some time. Joelouisandrew 21:55, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
I was trying to link a newly created Santiniketan Podcast to this page. This Podcast is attempting to connect people of Santiniketan of the past such as Amit Tagore, Amala Sarkar, Kalyani Sur, all of whom had connection with Rabindranath Tagore and are all well past 80 years old, as well as younger folks including those that are now in Santiniketan. I was born there and know them personally and am nephew of Santidev Ghosh and grandson of Kalimohan Ghosh, both of whom worked directly with and under Rabindranath Tagore for long periods. The Podcast is gradually getting popular with the diaspora of ex students spread around the world, as well as people in INdia and Santiniketan. This is not a for-profit Podcast, but an effort at helping people connected with Santiniketan to talk of their memories and issues relating to Santiniketan of the past and present. The link : http://homepage.mac.com/tonu/podcast.xml I believe this link, among other external links on this page, would enhance the site. In future podcasts, more information is slated to come up, including yet unpublished voice recording of Rabindranath Tagore (for example in 1939, when his speech on Canada was aired by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), which has been recently re-discovered from the archives in Toronto, etc.
Appreciate comments. Tonymitra (talk) 03:05, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

There is a need here, I feel, to describe some of the history about the creation of Santiniketan, and Rabindranath Tagore's ideas behind creating such an institution. Further, there is a need to create separate pages to describe some of the functions mentioned here, such as Basanta Utsav, Barsha Mangal, Sharodutsav, Nandan Mela, Magh Mela, Rabindra Jayanti etc. We need more volunteers to come forward on this topic.Tonymitra (talk) 21:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Spelling issues
editFrom what I can tell, the common name for the town is spelt Shantiniketan. This includes West Bengal government sites. In light of this, I've reverted the "replace all" move (which also broke some links on the page) to Santiniketan. I do however see that the university website spells it Santiniketan and I've included the alternate spelling in the lede. If you believe that the latter should be the spelling of the article, then open a move request with corroborating evidence that Santiniketan is the common spelling for the town.
