The Commercial Motor Online archive
editAs an automatic cobble toghether this is surprisingly good, althouhg very heavily dependent on The Commercial Motor Online archive.Stephen Allcroft (talk) 16:39, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
History rework
editI have heavily reworked the history section so that the heritage of the company can be more easily followed and added details relating to the 3i disposal. I hope I have not scrambled the facts in the process! I have also promoted the overview of the company now ahead of the history which seems to make more sense given the level of detail in the history. PeterEastern (talk) 00:11, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
Company styling
editTo note that the Shearings businesses are organised into Shearings Group Ltd, Shearings Holidays Ltd, Shearings Hotels Ltd and also Shearings Ltd, but that the company website uses the generic term Shearings in body text to refer to the whole business and Shearings Holidays for the whole in the overarching banner. I suggest that we also use the term 'Shearings' within the article to refer to any business owned by Shearing Group Ltd (and not specifically by Shearings Ltd) and 'Shearings Holidays' for the any element operated by Shearings Holidays Ltd. If anyone wishes to refer specifically to a legal entity should include the 'Ltd' within the text. Does this make sense? PeterEastern (talk) 08:26, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
Shearings revival
editArticle needs bringing up to date. The brand was bought out of administration by Leger Holodays (https://travelweekly.co.uk/articles/376184/leger-holidays-to-resurrect-shearings-brand) and built back up to a sizable operation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.11.42.248 (talk) 10:54, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed.
I may split the article into Shearings (former bus company) and Shearings (brand) as it seems they bought the brand (although I'll need to read more sources before deciding that).Actually no, I will not split it, one article on Shearings is fine. In addition I do not think Leger Holidays has a article either. :/ Seems they also combined into a Leger Shearings Group, also no article. If there are no edits for a while, I'll update it (also overhaul it) and make the other articles myself when I have time. DankJae 22:44, 26 June 2022 (UTC)- Mainly updated it concerning the purchase, however the sections on the current brand operations, the destinations, fleet etc, would need to be expanded.
