The term "Sherm" for a PCP laced cigarette has nothing to do with Sherman Hemsley. This term was used in the late eighties and early nineties to describe a Sherman brand cigarette that was laced with PCP. People who smoked them were commonly known as "Sherm Heads."

Searching

I searched for "sherman hemsley", said it wasn't found. I searched for "sherman helmsley", showed a listing matching that name with 60% hit, when I went to it, the article name was "Sherman Hemsley." WTF? Osirisx11 16:50, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

his age during the filming of the Jeffersons

I think it should be mentioned, that during the filming of the tv series The Jeffersons, he was much younger then the character he played. I mean, Sherman Hemsley was like 38, the character that he played was around 50 to 60. Does anyone have a source for this?

In 1987, Hemsley met with President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Prime Minister Mikhail Gorbachev during a celebrity appearance at the Cleveland International Peace Proceedings. Hemsley spoke with the two leaders, and was quoted as saying, "This Cold War guys - it's freezing out the little guy". It is unclear exactly to what Hemsley was referring.

El Paso Texas?

I too live in El Paso, TX and am aware that he's lived here for years. He did a local commercial some years back and saw him myself this very evening at a restaurant. Music career?

How come no one here was mentioned Sherman's short-lived music career? In the movie "Ghost Fever" he sang the dance-pop song "Eyes In The Dark" plus I believe a few other tracks on the soundtrack. Around 1993 or 1994 he recorded a full album called "Dance" which had a single released, a remake of "Louie Louie". I know these records are hard to find and not in print anywhere, but if I can find the right material to make another topic, I'd like to put something on Sherman's singing. Sherman Hemsley's Passing On

I understand that he has just passed away (RIP) but you should include citations before you add the information (or people might think it is a hoax or something). The only resource I am finding at the moment is TMZ.com (not totally reliable) to confirm his passing on. Years active

The infobox currently states "1938–2012" for "years active". I cannot imagine that the start date of 1938 is correct, as 1938 is his year of birth. The section called Personal Life currently has almost nothing in it about his actual personal life; only a paragraph about his interest in certain music and some side projects, but that is not the kind of information typically in a section with that name. 'natural causes' is not a cause of death

The cause of death was not known. He was found dead at home, and it was announced that no foul play was suspected, so it is accurate to state that he had apparently died of natural causes until any further information is made known. 24.185.62.209 (talk) 17:19, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

It was lung cancer; I think "natural causes" was a substitute until an examiner weighed in.
