How Shiroda derived it's Name?

edit

The ancestors tell us that there was a "Bali pratha" celebrated in this village where human sacrifices were offered to Dev Ravalnath situated in shiroda bazar. The human heads were then joined again and the person came back to life. Once on Dasara occasion when the bali was performed, the heads did not join and three humans lost there lives. There heads in pashan form are still preserved in Ravalnath Temple. Since then the human Sacrifice was stopped. Thus shiroda derived it's name. Shir (Head) vada (To cut). Now on Dasara Day at 4 am around, a bali of goat is performed and a Dhond gives a cut to his forehead till blood appears and pours it on the bali place. In the afternoon at Betal Temple the ritual is performed and bali of cocks is given to Dev Betaleshwar. The 'Taranga' (umbrellas) are kept in Ravalnath Temple and a jatra takes place where married women perform "Divja". Dikshanaik1995 (talk) 07:10, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
