Bogus word?

edit

I was trying to find evidence for this word in Japanese & found this: http://kotobank.jp/word/%E5%B0%8F%E5%B8%82%E6%B0%91%E6%98%A0%E7%94%BB

My translation: Western scholars of Japanese film call them "Shomingeki"...

It doesn't really mention this is a bogus word in the article. JoshuSasori (talk) 08:32, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I see. So that's where Moe anime and manga like K-ON! comes from. --189.6.183.218 (talk) 06:00, 29 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Kotobank/Hitachi reliable reference source? / Cinewiki defunct?

edit

1. Can Kotobank/Hitachi be regarded as a reliable reference source? 2. When trying to access Cinewiki, I get an error message – is this site defunct? Robert Kerber (talk) 18:28, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Shomin-gekiShoshimin-eiga – The old term shomin-geki is a pseudo-Japanese word, first used in 1950's Western film literature; in recent years, literature, papers, serious web sites on film and scholars are increasingly using the correct term shoshimin-eiga. See for instance Google book search [1]. I suggest a page move to the correct and in the meantime more frequently used term Shoshimin-eiga, users searching the old term will be automatically re-directed to the page with the accurate term. To editor Robert Kerber: hello, don't quite understand why you made some of [these edits]? You removed some pretty important stuff, didn't you? Like the two navbars that I've just spent an hour cleaning up a bit, you just took them out altogether. What's up with that? P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 10:31, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Must have been an edit conflict, no harm intended. But I see you mixed up the terms shoshimin-eiga and shomin-geki in two places. I'll restore your nav bar adds and the grammar corrections. Best Robert Kerber (talk) 10:55, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Cool, and sorry for the conflicting and mixed up edits. I'll try to do better. Thank you for your help! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 11:03, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
