Regarding Vaidya or Baidyas

edit

In Bengal The caste is called Baidya or Vaidya. But the caste page linked to a separate page. The article is all about the caste. He is an Eminent Baidya. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:17, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baidya Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:18, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Every one in Bengal know that he is Baidya. I myself from Bengal. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

In Ray is a British given title to those who were Zamindar. My maternal side has Ray surname but her actual title is Dasgupta. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:22, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

So I have eliminated the link to a different Vaidya page to make it disambiguous and also it supported the source. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:25, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is also illogical to link the caste content with a sanskrit word[Vaidya is a sanskrit word] whear as the source is all about the caste of previous chief ministers of Bengal. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:37, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

The source itself says that "His predecessor, Siddhartha Shankar Ray, West Bengal’s last Congress chief minister, belonged to the highly respected Vaidya caste" Then how can You link the caste content with a sanskrit word? Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 02:47, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

He is Baidya Cyclopot (talk) 03:53, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

See Chowdhury, Ray, Sarkar Titles of Bengal may belong to any caste as these are British Given Titles to those Who were either Landlords or British Employees. You can check my given information with Your Moderators, Who are from Bengal. Please take kare in future that any page of a People can be from any caste. So pls dont let anyone to add caste of those mentioned with Titles without sourcing. Thanks. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 04:47, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ray is the most honorary title given by Britishers in Bengal. Normaly The familes of this Title have an Elite Record. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 07:45, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have linked the article with Vaidya Caste as the source says Vaidya caste. If You think He is from Physician Background [As Vaidya in Sanskrit mean Physician]Then give the proper source as per Wikipedia policy. Some one added Kayastha with out source-It was also against the policy. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 08:50, 27 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Okay, this helped clear things up. I handled this by creating a redirect called Vaidya (caste) to Baidya. This helps editors clearly understand what's happening, matches the source and avoids the appearance of an easter egg. Thank you for starting this discussion, it was quite helpful!
