COI Edit request 25, March, 2024

- What I think should be changed: Biometric fingerprint to Biometric identification tools
- Why it should be changed: Accuracy

- Hi, this is referenced multiple times in the article, which specific sections would you like removing? Encoded Talk 💬 17:49, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Encoded Please can you change 'biometric fingerprint technology' to Biometric identification technology' in the following paragraphs:
- Paragraph 1
- Overview box > Products
- ---------------------------
- Also, I wanted to ask for some advice please...
- I would like to update the Article for the company I work for - Simprints - as it is very out of date and there have been many developments that readers would find interesting and beneficial that are currently not included on the page.
- I tried to make all the changes under the Username Simprints, which I didn't realise wasn't allowed and I also didn't know that I needed to declare COI and that I was updating the pages as part of my job (therefore paid to do so). This was my mistake and I appreciate the chance to learn how to use Wikipedia correctly. Thanks for your patience and help!
- I'm now submitting each edit needed as an Edit request, but this could take some time. Is there any way that someone could revert back to the changes I made a few weeks ago, once anything that is not inappropriate is removed? I'm happy to consult with you on each section of updates needed.
- I would be so grateful for your steer on this. Once the page is up to date, it will be a valuable resource to people who are interested in the topic of Biometrics and impactful not for profit organisations.
- With thanks in advance Sima 167.98.155.169 (talk) 10:12, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Sima Bodalikar, I've updated the sections of the article for you. I've just had a look at the page history and it looks like the edits have already been reverted by Sadads (see where it says "Tags: Reverted"). If there's any I've missed please let me know.
- Feel free to ping me on your edit requests, I'm happy to help where I can :) Encoded Talk 💬 07:53, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Encoded
- Thank you so much! I'll have a look now. There were quite a few updates needed as the page was so outdated. If you could help revert back to the changes I made in March, that would be great. 86.16.225.91 (talk) 08:39, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

- Hi, terribly sorry for taking so long.
- Change paragraph - Done as requested
- Published Literature - Done as requested
- Simprints Open Source - Done, but added in history section instead, I don't think adding it after Harvard business school paragraph in published literature is the right place.
- Remote sentence - Done as requested
- "reached 2 million people" - Not done for now, I feel like more context is needed for this, what exactly is meant by "reached", is it 2 million users or 2 million biometric scans, etc?
- Awards - Done as requested.
- Affiliations - Not done for now, are there any references you could provide for this list?
- Thanks, and sorry for taking so long! Encoded Talk 💬 20:36, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Published Literature
In May 2023, Simprints launched ‘A Responsible Biometric Deployment Handbook’[1], funded by IBM. The project was supported with a grant from the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab, the applied arm of the Notre Dame Technology Ethics Center. The guide provides tools to explore the ethical and secure adoption of biometric technology in frontline humanitarian and development settings.
In October 2023, Simprints was featured in a Harvard Business School Case Study entitled ‘Toby Norman: Is passion enough for Simprints to thrive?[2]’. The case, written by Professor Jon Jachimowicz, is an in-depth look at the Simprints story and has become part of the core curriculum for all first-year Business students in the LEAD programme at Harvard.

Is it possible to revert back to the edits made?
editHi @Sadads, you kindly dealt with my Username block a few days ago when I was updating the Simprints page. I wanted to ask for some advice please...
I would like to update the Article for the company I work for - Simprints - as it is very out of date and there have been many developments that readers would find interesting and beneficial that are currently not included on the page.
I tried to make all the changes under the Username Simprints, which I didn't realise wasn't allowed and I also didn't know that I needed to declare COI and that I was updating the pages as part of my job (therefore paid to do so). This was my mistake and I appreciate the chance to learn how to use Wikipedia correctly. Thanks for your patience and help!
I'm now submitting each edit needed as an Edit request, but this could take some time. Is there any way that someone could revert back to the changes I made last week, once anything that is not inappropriate is removed?
I would be so grateful for your steer on this. Once the page is up to date, it will be a valuable resource to people who are interested in the topic of Biometrics and impactful not for profit organisations.
With thanks in advance Sima Sima Bodalikar (talk) 12:34, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Sima Bodalikar -- apologies for not responding sooner, but I am not very active at the moment -- it just was very clear to me that your edits were good faith but misunderstanding our policy. Unfortunately, I am going to have to differ to the folks that normally work on COI requests, I simply don't have the energy at the moment. Sadads (talk) 23:52, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Sadads, thank you so much for replying and understanding the circumstances. Please could you advise how I contact the COI folks directly? Best Sima Sima Bodalikar (talk) 10:18, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

HI @Encoded Thank you so much for the last round of amends. The page is looking great now and will be such a valuable resource to users who are interested in the work of Simprints.
There is one edit that was missed along the way:
Please remove the following from tsentence at the end of the Affiliates section.
Non-current partners and supporters include the Electric Power Research Institute, Grand Challenges Canada and Impact Network.
Please can you then move the below org into the Affiliates list? Link supplied: Grand Challenges Canada [Kapil, Vinesh. "Fifteen Innovators Get Funding from Saving Lives at Birth | Saving Lives at Birth". savinglivesatbirth.net. Retrieved 2018-05-16.]
Please can you add the below into the Affiliates list: Engineering for Change [1]
I will continue to look for supportive links so that we add the missing organisations into the Affliates list.

- Hi @Encoded Just bumping this up to you. 86.16.225.91 (talk) 08:31, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Partly done: I've removed the text and added Engineering for Change, unfortunately it looks as though the saving lives at birth link pasted incorrectly, do you still have this? Many thanks, Encoded Talk 💬 19:41, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
